We need a part-time aide to be a care-taker-communication partner for our 30-year-old non-verbal autistic daughter

• an award-winning poet and MFA Graduate student
• who uses a keyboard, with emotional and physical support, to communicate needs, perform academic work and socialize
• at our home in Pasadena and in the community.

Duties:

Engage our daughter in social activities including excursions to movies, concerts, local parks, gardens, museums, entertainment venues, shopping and eating out, while practicing social communication using supported communication. (Assistance with daily hygiene, meals, and dressing may be necessary.)

Requirements :

Commitment! Responsibility! Flexibility ! The desire to make a difference in someone's life; a willingness to become a friend to someone in need. Must have own car and proof of insurance. Must provide I-9 proof of ability to work in the United States.

Preferred :

Experience with developmentally disabled children or adults is helpful but not necessary: experience babysitting, camp counseling, tutoring is also useful. Outgoing, extroverted, and high energy personality .

Training :

On the job training will be provided in Supported Communication, Behavioral Modification (Discrete Trial Training), Stanley Greenspan Floor Play, and Sensory Integration techniques.

Pay:

$22.00
