As a respite caregiver , you will support children and youth with special needs—including Autism, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities—by providing high-quality, in-home care that strengthens families and enhances daily life. Caregiver Responsibilities Engage children in age-appropriate and developmental activities Assist with daily living routines, light exercise, homework, and self-help skills (tooth brushing, dressing, etc.) Build positive, supportive relationships with families and clients Remain calm, patient, and effective during challenging moments Support children with Autism and other developmental needs respectfully and confidently Caregiver Requirements 18 years old or older Ability to pass a DOJ Livescan background check Adult/Child CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Negative TB test Experience working with children or behavior management is a plus Reliable transportation A genuine desire to help children and support families California Respite Care is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with all ADA guidelines.
