Job Description
JTemporary After-School Program SubstitutePosition Overview Venture Free Foundation is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and caring Temporary After-School Program Substitute to join our team for approximately 6+ weeks while a member of our regular staff is out on medical leave. This is a hands-on position working directly with elementary-aged children in our after-school program at Kings Mountain Elementary School. The program is already established, with activities, routines, and daily plans in place, so this role does not require curriculum development or extensive activity planning. Instead, we are looking for someone who can step into our existing program, support our staff, and provide children with a safe, positive, and engaging afternoon experience. This position has the potential to continue beyond the temporary coverage period and may develop into a regular position or ongoing substitute role with Venture Free Foundation based on organizational needs and the candidate's availability and fit. Key Responsibilities Supervise and engage with elementary-aged children in both indoor and outdoor settings Follow established daily routines, schedules, and activity plans Help create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children Participate in outdoor play, activities, projects, and group activities Assist with simple daily preparation and setup before the program begins Help maintain clean and organized program spaces and materials Support children's social-emotional development and positive peer interactions Communicate appropriately and professionally with program staff and parents/guardians Follow all Venture Free Foundation safety, supervision, and child-care policies Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure consistent supervision and a smooth afternoon program Required Qualifications To meet California child care licensing requirements for this position, candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience pathways : 12 ECE units and at least 6 months of experience working in a child care center or classroom;
OR 6 ECE
units (or equivalent) and current enrollment in at least 2 additional ECE units Candidates must also: Have, or be willing to obtain, a current Mandated Reporter training certification Successfully complete a required Live Scan fingerprint/background check Be dependable, responsible, and comfortable working directly with children Be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors Have the physical ability to participate in active play and outdoor activities Have reliable transportation to our Kings Mountain location Previous experience working with elementary-aged children is strongly preferred, but we are open to candidates with a range of child-care and classroom experience who meet the licensing requirements above. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is warm, dependable, and genuinely enjoys spending time with children. The right person will be able to step into an established program, follow routines and direction, and contribute positively to the team without needing extensive supervision. You don't need to come in with a fully developed curriculum or a long list of activities. We primarily need someone who is reliable, engaged, attentive, and ready to jump in and help make the afternoon a great experience for kids. An appreciation for outdoor learning, experiential education, and Venture Free's child-centered approach is a plus.Position Details Position:
