Special Needs background not required, but preferred. PTO, paid sick days, paid Holidays, opportunity to work some weekends for additional hours. Vehicle provided for caregivers to use.
Schedule:
Monday- Friday 4:00-8:00pm with weekend hours as needed. The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient, and enthusiastic about working closely with children who require specialized attention, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met with kindness and professionalism. This position is perfect for someone passionate about childcare and committed to creating positive experiences for children with disabilities or additional support requirements. Responsibilities Provide attentive and personalized care to children with special needs age 7 and assisting younger sibling age 4 Assist with daily routines such as meal prep, grocery shopping, driving to events/appointments/ activities, pick up from school scheduling appointments, tidying of all areas used by children while encouraging them to pick up after themselves Implement individualized care plans tailored to each child's unique needs and developmental goals by providing educational and enrichment activities through play, crafts, or outings . Support children's learning and development through engaging activities, play, teaching moments, and sensory exercises. Homeschooling opportunity as well. Prepare nutritious meals and snacks suited to dietary restrictions or preferences; handle meal planning and preparation with attention to strict diets of the children- no outside food permitted without approval of parents. Maintain a clean and organized environment by performing light housekeeping tasks related to childcare, including cleaning toys and children's areas. Children's laundry ONLY will be required. Administer first aid when necessary, following proper protocols to ensure the safety of the children at all times. Collaborate closely with parents, therapists, teachers, or other caregivers to ensure consistent support for each child's progress and well-being. Foster positive social interactions by encouraging communication skills, emotional regulation, and socialization in a supportive manner. Support Full-Time nanny and offer flexibility in accepting additional hours when needed. Requirements Proven experience working with children in caregiving roles such as nannying, babysitting, daycare work, or teaching positions minimum 5 years experience. Prior experience supporting children with disabilities or special needs is preferred. Knowledge of child development stages from infancy through preschool age; familiarity with Twice Exceptional, dyslexia, ADHD, PDA is required. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in working with individuals with disabilities is a plus. Ability to prepare meals that meet specific dietary requirements; experience with meal preparation for children is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with families and professionals involved in the child's care. Flexibility to adapt routines based on each child's evolving needs; patience and compassion are vital qualities. Ability to perform light cleaning duties related to childcare environments; maintaining hygiene standards is important.
