Child Care Director Reports To Owners Position Summary The Child Care Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, safety, and operation of the child care program. The Director ensures compliance with all applicable state regulations, maintains a high-quality educational environment, supervises staff, manages enrollment and family relations, and promotes the mission and values of the organization. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Administration Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the child care program. Develop and implement policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and health and safety requirements. Manage program records, attendance, enrollment, and required documentation. Coordinate inspections and licensing visits. Develop schedules for classrooms, staff, and activities. Staff Management Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff. Ensure staff maintain required certifications and training hours. Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions. Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment. Address staff performance concerns and disciplinary matters when necessary. Child Safety & Program Quality Ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all children. Monitor classroom activities and curriculum implementation. Ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios are maintained. Address incidents, accidents, and parent concerns promptly and professionally. Promote positive behavior management practices. Family Engagement Serve as the primary point of contact for families. Conduct tours and enrollment meetings with prospective families. Communicate regularly with parents regarding program activities and child progress. Resolve parent concerns and complaints professionally. Financial & Enrollment Management Assist with budgeting and financial oversight. Monitor enrollment levels and staffing needs. Oversee tuition collection and account management. Promote enrollment growth through marketing and community outreach efforts. Regulatory Compliance Maintain compliance with applicable childcare regulations and standards. Ensure background screening requirements are met for all staff. Verify completion of required training, CPR, First Aid, and other certifications. Maintain emergency preparedness and risk management procedures. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Child Care Director Credential or equivalent qualification as required by state regulations. Minimum of two years of experience in child care, preschool, or youth program administration preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Current CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe. Successful completion of all required background screening requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of child development principles and best practices. Understanding of child care licensing regulations. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidential information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and child care management software. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in program activities as needed. Work Schedule Full-time position. Typical hours Monday through Friday with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for special events, meetings, or trainings.
