Job Description

Description:
Join our vibrant team at the YMCA as a Child Watch Staff member, where you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children while their parents or guardians participate in fitness classes, programs, or other activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of children within a supportive community setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise children in the Child Watch area, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times Engage children in age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to promote social, emotional, and physical development Monitor and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment Enforce YMCA policies and safety procedures consistently Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's needs and behavior Report any concerns or incidents to appropriate staff members promptly Assist with setup and cleanup of activity areas as needed
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience working with children in a childcare, camp, or educational setting preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain attentive, patient, and nurturing in a dynamic environment Basic knowledge of child safety and emergency procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team High school diploma or equivalent required; additional childcare certifications are a plus Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends At the YMCA, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that supports growth, development, and community engagement.
