Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a reliable, caring, and experienced Private Pet Nanny to provide consistent, high-quality care for beloved pets in a private home setting. This is a hands-on position for someone who genuinely enjoys animals and understands that excellent pet care involves much more than feeding and walking. The Pet Nanny will be responsible for maintaining the pets' established daily routines, providing exercise and enrichment, reinforcing existing training, administering medications when needed, monitoring health and behavior, and transporting and accompanying pets to veterinary and other medical or wellness appointments. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, organized, physically active, and comfortable taking responsibility for pets' day-to-day needs. We are looking for someone interested in becoming a trusted and consistent part of their care team. Responsibilities Provide attentive, individualized daily care, including feeding, fresh water, walks, exercise, playtime, enrichment, companionship, and affection. Maintain established training routines and consistently reinforce commands, boundaries, manners, and positive behaviors. Follow specific care instructions and maintain consistency with household routines. Transport and accompany pets to veterinary appointments, medical appointments, grooming, rehabilitation, training sessions, and other scheduled activities. Communicate with veterinarians, trainers, groomers, or other pet-care professionals as appropriate and relay important information to the household. Administer medications and treatments as directed and maintain medication schedules. Monitor pets for changes in health, appetite, mobility, behavior, energy level, or temperament and promptly communicate concerns. Prepare meals and treats according to each pet's nutritional and dietary requirements. Maintain pet schedules, including appointments, medications, exercise, training, grooming, and other activities. Provide safe transportation for pets as needed. Maintain clean and organized pet areas, including food and water bowls, bedding, toys, crates, and other pet-related items. Ensure pets are safely supervised during walks, outings, and indoor and outdoor activities. Provide additional pet sitting or extended care when arranged in advance. Maintain appropriate communication with the household regarding the pets' activities, health, behavior, appointments, and any concerns. Handle pets with patience, kindness, consistency, and good judgment at all times. Experience Prior experience caring for animals in a private home or professional setting strongly preferred. Experience as a pet nanny, pet sitter, veterinary assistant/technician, dog walker, trainer, kennel professional, or similar animal-care role is a plus. Comfortable caring for pets of different ages, personalities, activity levels, and medical needs. Knowledge of basic animal behavior and positive reinforcement training methods. Comfortable administering medications and following detailed medical or care instructions. Dependable, responsible, trustworthy, and highly attentive to detail. Strong communication and organizational skills. Able to work independently and use sound judgment. Physically capable of walking, exercising, handling, and transporting pets. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Willing and able to transport pets to appointments and activities. Ability to maintain privacy and discretion while working in a private household. This position is ideal for someone who wants more than an occasional pet-sitting job. We are seeking a consistent, trusted caregiver who will get to know our pets, understand their individual personalities and needs, maintain their routines and training, and help us provide them with exceptional long-term care.
