Job Description

New Life Directions Ministries is looking for caring, dependable individuals to provide evening child care and babysitting while parents participate in classes and family-strengthening programs at our Training Center. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and would like a small, consistent part-time position that makes a meaningful difference for local families. This position may be especially appealing to:
  • College students studying education, social work, psychology, child development, or a related field
  • Church nursery or children's ministry workers
  • Retired teachers or child care professionals
  • Stay-at-home parents looking for a few evening hours
  • Experienced babysitters
  • High school students interested in gaining supervised child care experience
  • Individuals who enjoy working with children and supporting families Schedule
  • Up to 6 hours per week
  • Two evenings per week
  • Approximately 3 hours each evening
  • Hours correspond with NLDM parent classroom programming
  • Consistent attendance and reliability are very important What You'll Do While parents are attending classes onsite, Child Care Workers will help create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for their children.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Supervising children during evening programming
  • Providing attentive babysitting and child care
  • Engaging children in age-appropriate games, crafts, reading, and activities
  • Helping children feel comfortable and welcomed
  • Assisting with basic needs during the program period
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly child care area
  • Following NLDM safety and supervision procedures
  • Communicating professionally with parents and NLDM staff
  • Helping children transition smoothly when arriving and returning to their parents Applicants Age 18 and Older Applicants who are 18 years of age or older may be hired as Child Care Workers.
All employees age 18 and older who work with children must successfully complete required background checks before beginning employment. Applicants Under Age 18 Responsible applicants under age 18 are also encouraged to apply. Applicants under 18 may be hired as Assistant Child Care Providers and will work under the supervision and direction of an adult Child Care Worker. Assistant Child Care Providers may help with:
  • Games and activities
  • Reading to children
  • Crafts
  • Setting up and cleaning up activities
  • Helping children stay engaged
  • Supporting the supervising adult Child Care Worker Assistant Child Care Providers will be hired at a lower rate of pay based on age, experience, responsibilities, and applicable employment requirements. Who We're Looking For The ideal applicant is:

  • Comfortable working with children of different ages
  • Able to follow directions and safety procedures
  • Able to maintain appropriate boundaries with children and families
  • Willing to work cooperatively with NLDM staff
  • Able to provide consistent supervision in a child care setting Previous experience in babysitting, child care, daycare, church nursery, children's ministry, camps, schools, or youth programs is helpful but not required for every position.
Pay:
$13.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 3.0 - 6.0 per week
