Job Description

A wonderful family in Wake Forest is seeking a warm, engaging, and dependable nanny & household manager to join their family and care for their two young children. Their first priority is finding someone who is a wonderful fit for their family and children, with the ideal candidate also interested in providing proactive household management support before they are picked up from school. The family has a sweet and energetic 4-year-old boy who loves dinosaurs, hockey, and rock climbing. He is curious, creative, funny, and loves being a leader and helper. He is also highly emotionally aware and is continuing to work through big feelings with the support of his family. His caregivers should be patient, loving, and confident in setting appropriate boundaries. He will soon be 5! Their 3-year-old daughter is kind, patient, and silly. She is wonderfully tidy for her age and loves to dance, dress up, and, of course, anything pink! She absolutely adores her big brother. The family also has a sweet older dog who is an important part of the household. Schedule & Hours The core schedule is Monday-Thursday, 1:00-6:00 PM, including picking the children up from their Montessori preschool at 1:00 PM. The ideal candidate would be interested in approximately 25-30 hours per week, with some flexibility (based on the candidate's preference and willingness to help with sick care and household management tasks) The family would love someone who is available for: Longer days (approximately 9:00-5:00 or 9:30-5:30) when the children are out of school for breaks Occasional care when a child has a minor illness An occasional Friday when grandparents are unavailable Additional household management hours before school pickup, if willing (flexible hours before pickup) Responsibilities The nanny will spend the afternoon engaging with the children through imaginative play, reading, outdoor activities, and fun outings. They will also assist with getting the children to afternoon activities and should enjoy getting down on the floor and actively participating in their play. Light child-related housekeeping will be part of the role, including: Cleaning up with and after the children Children's laundry Preparing meals and snacks for the children Keeping children's areas tidy and organized The family would also greatly appreciate household management support, which could include: Additional family laundry and dishes Managing mail and returns Grocery pickup Walking the family dog Helping keep the household organized Completing tasks that help set the parents up for a smoother transition home after work The family is open to adjusting the schedule to accommodate a candidate who enjoys both nannying and household management. The Ideal Candidate The family is looking for a fun-loving yet confident and firm nanny who is patient, emotionally attuned, and comfortable helping young children navigate big feelings. They would love someone who is proactive, dependable, and enjoys becoming a long-term part of a family.
Requirements:
Experience caring for toddlers and preschool-aged children Patient, firm, and loving approach to behavior and big feelings Initial COVID vaccination and annual flu vaccination Comfortable around dogs and willing to walk the family dog during household management hours Willingness to care for mildly sick children Experience with or willingness to learn proactive household management Reliable, safe vehicle suitable for transporting children Long-term commitment Available to start soon, ideally by mid-September Willingness to potentially commute to North Raleigh, as the family may relocate there within the next 1-2 years Compensation & Benefits $22-$25/hour, depending on experience and responsibilities Benefits include: Guaranteed hours 2 weeks paid time off Paid sick days Paid holidays Professional development stipend This is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny who wants to build a long-term relationship with a family that will value their expertise, appreciate their contributions, and treat them as an important part of the family team.
