The family is looking for someone who can become a trusted and consistent presence in their daughter's life and ideally remain with them for many years. Their daughter is an outgoing, energetic only child who loves connecting with the people around her. She is very conversational, enjoys building close relationships, and thrives with caregivers who are genuinely engaged and interested in her day. Schedule Monday-Friday, with 20-25 guaranteed hours per week. The family is open to either a 1:30 PM-5:30 PM schedule (20 hours per week) or a 12:30 PM-5:30 PM schedule (25 hours per week), depending on the candidate. The nanny will begin the day at the family's home, using the time before school pickup to prepare for the afternoon, take the dog out, prepare snacks, and assist with light household tasks before picking their daughter up from school. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is $30-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience. The family is offering a competitive compensation package with industry-standard benefits, including 20-25 guaranteed hours per week, paid vacation days, paid sick days, paid holidays that fall on regularly scheduled workdays, and mileage reimbursement at the current IRS standard mileage rate for work-related driving. Responsibilities The nanny will help create a comfortable and consistent after-school routine. Their daughter typically enjoys having about 20-30 minutes to decompress after school, watch something, and have a snack before transitioning into homework. Responsibilities include school pickup and transportation home, preparing snacks, supporting and supervising homework, engaging and spending quality time with their daughter, and providing appropriate structure and boundaries. Before school pickup, the nanny will help prepare for the afternoon and provide light household support, including dishes and keeping kitchen counters and common areas tidy. Responsibilities may also include letting the family's dog outside as needed and starting or preparing dinner when time allows. Laundry and additional cooking would be appreciated but are considered a bonus rather than the family's primary focus. Driving A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle are required. The nanny will use their own vehicle for school pickup and other work-related driving and will receive mileage reimbursement. Requirements Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of recent, paid professional nanny experience and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Candidates should live within approximately 30 minutes of North Caldwell, NJ and must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle. Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain or renew certification prior to starting, is required. Candidates must also provide a minimum of two professional childcare references and be willing to complete a comprehensive background check and Motor Vehicle Record check. Candidates must be dog-friendly, comfortable working in a home with a small dog, and interested in a long-term position. Hindi or Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is warm, energetic, loving, and genuinely enjoys building a relationship with the child in their care. The family is looking for someone who will take an interest in their daughter's life, enjoy talking and spending time with her, and become a trusted and consistent presence in the family for many years. They are looking for someone who can provide structure and set appropriate boundaries while still being fun, engaging, and affectionate. Open communication is especially important to the family, so the ideal candidate should be comfortable receiving feedback, communicating directly and respectfully with the parents, and following the parents' preferred approach to raising their daughter. Above all, personality and connection are the family's priority. They would rather find an amazing person who genuinely connects with their daughter than prioritize someone based on additional household skills such as cooking or laundry.
