General Function:

The Childcare Aide will assist in the planning and implementation of the appropriate program activities and events as assigned.

Qualifications:

The Childcare Aide must be 18 years of age or older, have the personal qualities needed to work with children and their parents and be sensitive to the needs of others. They should be energetic, creative and have a good knowledge of sports, games, and other age-appropriate activities. Employees in this position must be able to stand for extended periods of time, possess vision clarity (with the aid of corrective lenses if necessary), possess the ability to climb, balance, stop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk and hear. The physical requirements of the position range between medium and heavy work. Medium work includes exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (heavy work exerts up to 100 pounds), and/or up to 20 pounds (50 pounds for heavy work) of force frequently. Medium work includes exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly (20 pounds if heavy work) to move objects.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist with set-up and clean up at the beginning and end of each day. Properly supervise children in all assigned activities. Assist the supervisor with planning and implementation of daily activities. Help with maintaining discipline and cooperation among the children, always maintaining the standard of discipline that is in keeping with all state regulations and the YMCA policy. Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed by the supervisor and required by state regulations Assist supervisor with administrative duties as assigned. Serve as a staff member to fun days, holiday vacations, graduation and parents' night as directed. Supervise and behave in a manner consistent with YMCA policy and all state regulations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in overall maintenance, upkeep, and facility improvement. Perform other job duties as requested and necessary.
