Newborn Care Specialist in Manhasset, Long Island Schedule & Contract Anticipated start : March 25, 2027 Anticipated end : July 22, 2027 The family is currently anticipating overnight coverage from approximately 6:00 PM-7:00 AM, seven nights per week during the first 1-2 months. After that period, they anticipate transitioning to approximately 5-6 nights per week, depending on the baby's needs and how the family is adjusting. The family prefers a live-out NCS but is open to discussing live-in accommodations for an exceptional candidate. Private bedroom and bathroom accommodations can be provided. Commuter assistance may also be discussed depending on the candidate's needs. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to; Providing attentive overnight care and monitoring the baby's safety and well-being Supporting and assisting with nighttime feedings Providing knowledgeable breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle-feeding support as needed Changing diapers, dressing, bathing, burping, and soothing the baby Supporting the establishment of healthy, developmentally appropriate sleep habits and routines Cleaning and sterilizing bottles and pumping equipment Laundering and organizing the baby's clothing and linens Maintaining a clean and organized nursery and newborn-care environment Keeping a daily log of feeding, sleeping, and relevant behavioral patterns Offering thoughtful newborn guidance and parent education as appropriate Communicating closely with the parents and following their preferred approach to newborn care Providing a suggested list of newborn supplies prior to the baby's arrival The ideal candidate is a seasoned NCS with 5+ years of professional newborn experience. They should be nurturing, calm, proactive, organized, warm, communicative, and adaptable. This family values an NCS who can confidently share their knowledge and recommendations while remaining respectful of the parents' choices and responsive to the individual baby's needs. A natural, supportive approach to newborn care, breastfeeding, and an understanding of responsive sleep practices are particularly important. Candidates must be CPR and First Aid certified. Professionalism, discretion, strong communication skills, good judgment, and minimal personal phone use in front of the baby are also important. Requirements 5+ years of recent NCS experience Legally permitted to work in the U.S. Excellent communication skills Excellent references Certified in Infant CPR and First Aid Nice-to-haves Familiarity with the SNOO and The Happiest Baby on the Block approach is helpful but not required. Compensation Approximately $45-$50+ per hour, depending on experience and credentials. Travel/commuting expenses, including gas and train fare, will be reimbursed.
