This includes organizing regular learning and enrichment sessions, helping with homework, teaching Arts & Crafts, engaging in leisure and recreational activities. She/he will supervise students in structured and unstructured settings, maintaining discipline and order within student groups. Encourages students to make wise choices and develop responsible behaviors. Provide direct leadership to School-Age Children to include the development of the four core YMCA values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide direct leadership and supervision to Child Care, ASA and Vacation Camp participants in a teaching capacity. 2. Coordinate Child Care, ASA and Vacation Camp curricula and activities in accordance with the specific needs and interests of the YMCA and participants involved. 3. Devise organized lesson plans and structure for instruction/management of all classes. 4. Project a positive and enthusiastic image on the job always, to include wearing YMCA-labeled gear every day. 5. Cultivate strong working relationships with YMCA members, staff, participants and families. 6. Effectively cooperate with other Child Care Staff in coordination of the School Age/ ASA program. 7. Act as transportation chaperone and coordinator. 8. Attend all required staff meetings and training courses. 9. Assist in training other staff/volunteers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must possess 1-3 years of previous related experience working with children and knowledge of age-appropriate activities, to teach, by providing/designing program curricula and lessons, as approved by the Child Care Director. Must be 18+ years of age which is required by the state. Incumbents must have the ability to supervise and motivate the children in addition to leading activities. Responsible for minor decisions regarding routine problems where precedents have been established. The ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, YMCA members, program participants, parents and the public is essential.

PAY RANGE

$18.74 - $23.00 per hour depending on skills/years of experience
