Job Summary Join our vibrant team as a Child Care Kitchen Staff member, where your culinary skills and passion for healthy, delicious meals will make a meaningful difference in children's lives. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals that meet dietary guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and supporting the overall food service operations within a child care setting. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks tailored to children's dietary needs, following approved menus and recipes. Assist with menu planning to ensure balanced, appealing, and age-appropriate food options. Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, and food processors safely and efficiently. Follow strict food safety protocols, including sanitizing surfaces, proper food handling, and storage procedures to prevent contamination. Support food production during high-volume meal times while maintaining quality standards. Ensure all food presentation is attractive and meets health standards for children's consumption. Maintain accurate records of food inventory, safety checks, and meal documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Qualifications Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food service role within child care or educational settings is preferred. Knowledge of menu planning, food preparation techniques such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food safety sanitizing procedures. Demonstrated ability to handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong knife skills and experience with food industry standards for high-volume production are desirable. Familiarity with dietary department operations, food safety management systems, and recipe adherence is advantageous. Experience in catering or restaurant environments that emphasize food handling, cooking techniques, and high-volume meal prep will be highly valued. Ability to work collaboratively with team members while maintaining attention to detail in meal preparation and safety protocols.
