A Nanny or Babysitter provides care for children in their homes. Stays with children on a regular basis or for occasional day or evening times, or works full time; may live with a family.
At Sincerely, The Village Doula, we believe no parent should have to do it all alone. We're looking for compassionate, dependable individuals to join our team as Village Mother's Helpers—providing practical, non-medical support to families during pregnancy, postpartum, and the early years of parenting. What You'll Do As a Village Mother's Helper, you will provide hands-on support in homes throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, while the parent remains present.
Responsibilities may include:
Supervise, hold, soothe, bottle-feed, burp, and change the baby as directed by the parent. Engage older children through reading, crafts, indoor play, outdoor play, and age-appropriate activities. Prepare simple meals or snacks for the mother and children. Wash bottles, feeding supplies, and pump parts. Complete baby or children's laundry, including folding and putting items away. Tidy child-related spaces, including the nursery, play area, feeding station, and toys. Load or unload the dishwasher and complete light kitchen reset tasks connected to the shift. Provide an extra set of hands while the mother rests, showers, works, attends a virtual appointment, or tends to another child.
Applicant qualifications:
At least 18 years old. Demonstrated experience with infants and young children. Current infant and child CPR/First Aid certification before independent assignments. Required Pennsylvania background clearances and acceptable references. Reliable transportation to client homes. Professional, teachable, calm, and comfortable taking direction from parents. Important Role Information This is not a housekeeping position. While light child-related household tasks are part of the role, the primary focus is supporting parents and caring for children. Village Mother's Helpers do not: Provide medical advice or clinical care Perform postpartum doula services unless separately qualified Deep clean homes Transport children All team members are expected to maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and respect for every family we serve.
