Job Description

###
Job Post:
Part-Time Montessori-Aligned Nanny (ideally Spanish-speaking)
  • The Role
  • We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly observant part-time nanny for our toddler (born Spring 2024). We are looking for a caregiver who ideally understands and practices Montessori—specifically scaffolding independence, treating the child with deep respect, avoiding "baby talk," and integrating the child into daily practical life rather than merely entertaining them.
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Practical Life:
  • Guide the child in daily activities (e.g., dressing, preparing snacks, cleaning up their workspace, organizing their environment) to build autonomy and executive function.
  • Child-Led Play & Observation:
  • Allow the child to engage deeply with their environment without unnecessary interruption. Step in to scaffold learning only when necessary.
  • Meal Preparation:
  • Prepare and serve simple meals and snacks that adhere strictly to our household's dietary standards: organic, minimally processed, low-sodium, and free of added sugars or artificial ingredients.
  • Outdoor Exploration:
  • Facilitate unstructured, active time outdoors in all safe weather conditions, focusing on nature exploration and age-appropriate risk assessment.
  • Environment Maintenance:
  • Ensure the child's play spaces and materials are maintained in a clean, orderly, and accessible manner consistent with a Montessori prepared environment.
  • Requirements & Preferences
  • Language:
  • Native or fluent speaker of Spanish willing to speak exclusively to the child in that language Is preferred.
  • Pet Comfort:
  • Must be comfortable and confident around animals, as we share our home with two whippets.
  • Experience:
  • Ideally professional Montessori childcare experience with toddlers.
  • Professionalism:
  • High degree of discretion, punctuality, and the ability to work autonomously while parents are present in the home.
Communication skills like texting day before visits and significantly advanced notice when delayed.
