Job Description

We are looking for an overnight postpartum doula (10PM-6AM) to provide newborn care in the client's home. We open to
PART TIME
but
FULL TIME
would be best. We work with families for an average of 3-4 months but contracts vary between 16 nights to "sleeping through the night/5-6 months." We are awake through the night helping the new family with infant care and household support. We of course want you to sit and take a break once all chores are completed and baby is sleeping safely in the bassinet, but this is not a job where you "sleep while baby sleeps." We can keep your work consistent so you have a consistent income and we can work around your schedule. Location:
We care for clients in the Greater Philadelphia area! All doulas around the Philadelphia (Rittenhouse/Logan Square/Fitler Square/Old City/Center City) area are encouraged to apply. We will schedule you with the families closest to you as much as possible! We are looking for someone who possesses the following: The desire to help new parents Experience with newborns- (babies UNDER 3 months old. You must have experience with a baby as young as 3 weeks old.) Experience with and a growing knowledge of breastfeeding (we can refer you to excellent resources) The desire to increase knowledge in topics relating to newborn babies (breastfeeding, infant development, healthy sleep habits) A mature, calming presence that puts a new mom's mind at ease as she leaves her newborn baby in your arms for the night. Excellent personal skills so the new mom is able to comfortably relay information regarding her baby's needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Encouraging and supporting the new parents Helping with the baby, dishes, laundry, nursery set up, and other responsibilities new parents have Assisting with breastfeeding (if you have not breastfed your own children, a breastfeeding class would be required) Travel to/from client homes in your own vehicle (we try to schedule you with clients close to your home, but sometimes driving 30-45 minutes is required.) Getting rest during the day (this job works well for moms of school-aged children because they can sleep while their kids are at school/ summer camp) About After the Stork Since 2006, After the Stork has been dedicated to helping families throughout the Greater Philadelphia region adjust to life with a precious newborn. Hourly Rate:
$25.00-$27.00 per hour starting, possibly more if you are overly qualified!
