Job Description
Play-Based Childcare Companion Greer, SC Pay:
$15-18 per hour, depending on experience We are seeking a fun, energetic, dependable, and engaging Play-Based Childcare Companion to spend quality time with our child in a safe, active, and creative environment. This position is centered around active, engaged childcare. We are seeking someone who genuinely enjoys playing, creating, exploring, reading, building, imagining, and helping a child have fun while maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment. This is not a position for someone who prefers to sit on the sidelines while children entertain themselves. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys participating in activities, creating experiences, and being fully present throughout the day. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is playful, creative, patient, and energetic. They enjoy board games, crafts, outdoor play, imaginative play, reading, building forts, creating activities, and finding fun ways to keep a child engaged. At the same time, they are mature, responsible, safety-minded, and capable of maintaining structure and following directions when needed. Responsibilities Provide attentive and engaging childcare. Actively participate in play and activities rather than simply supervising. Create age-appropriate games, crafts, activities, and learning opportunities. Encourage outdoor play and creative exploration. Assist with simple meals and snacks as needed. Maintain a clean and organized environment throughout the day. Clean up activities, toys, and play areas before leaving each day. Assist with basic household tasks related to the child's care. Transport the child to activities or events when needed. Communicate clearly regarding schedules, activities, and any concerns. Ideal Candidate Loves spending time with children. Fun, energetic, and highly engaging. Creative and able to think of activities without constant direction. Mature and dependable. Self-starter who can take initiative while also following instructions well. Pays close attention to safety and supervision needs. Patient, kind, and nurturing. Organized and capable of maintaining a tidy environment. Comfortable driving a child to activities if needed. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Prior childcare experience preferred. Schedule Hours will vary based on need and business growth. Typically 2-4 days per week. Approximately 5-6 hours per day. Schedules will generally be provided at least two weeks in advance. Position may begin with fewer hours and grow over time. Long-term expectation is that hours will increase and become more consistent, likely settling toward the higher end of the available range. We are looking for someone who is willing to ebb and flow with scheduling needs initially while also being interested in growing into a more consistent role as demand increases. Flexibility is appreciated in the beginning, but our goal is to build toward a stable, long-term schedule for the right person. Who Will Thrive In This Role This role is perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with children and understands that childcare is about more than simply keeping a child occupied. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm, creativity, patience, and energy to each day. They enjoy being fully present, creating memorable experiences, and leaving both the child and the home better than they found them. If you're the type of person who would rather build a blanket fort, play outside, create a craft project, read stories, invent a game, or encourage imaginative play than scroll on your phone, we'd love to hear from you. We are seeking someone who is interested in becoming a valued and consistent part of our family's routine as the position grows and develops over time. Additional Expectations Personal phone use should be limited to emergencies, communication with parents, or child-related needs while actively caring for the child. Safety, attentiveness, and engagement should always be prioritized over screen time. The home should be left tidy at the end of each day, including cleaning up toys, crafts, activities, dishes used during childcare, and any messes created throughout the day. We value creativity, initiative, kindness, and dependability and are looking for someone who takes pride in creating a positive, fun, and safe environment.
