Job Description

The Daycare Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, safety, and daily operations of the childcare center. This role requires a compassionate, organized, and experienced professional who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, families, and staff. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working directly with children in a licensed childcare setting. Previous supervisory or management experience in a daycare, preschool, or childcare environment preferred. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Must pass all required background checks, fingerprinting, and state licensing clearances. Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements for a daycare director position. Professional Experience Requirements Proven experience caring for and working with children of various age groups, including infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Strong understanding of child development, age-appropriate learning practices, and classroom management techniques. Experience handling behavioral challenges in a calm, professional, and positive manner. Ability to maintain a structured, safe, and nurturing learning environment. Experience developing or overseeing educational activities and enrichment programs. Familiarity with daycare licensing regulations, health standards, and safety procedures. Experience managing staff schedules, parent communication, and center operations preferred. Required Skills & AbilitiesLeadership & Management Strong leadership and team management skills. Primary Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the daycare center. Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and safety requirements. Supervise, train, and evaluate childcare staff. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Build positive relationships with parents and guardians. Address parent concerns and resolve issues professionally. Manage enrollment, attendance records, and staff scheduling. Plan and oversee educational and recreational activities. Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions. Monitor classrooms to ensure quality care and instruction. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Promote a positive center culture focused on child development and family support. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. Director Credential or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification. Experience with childcare management software. Bilingual communication skills are a plus. Experience preparing for state inspections and licensing visits. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds when necessary. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Ability to actively engage with children indoors and outdoors. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Work Environment Fast-paced childcare setting with frequent interaction with children, parents, and staff. Requires flexibility to adapt to changing daily needs and schedules. May involve occasional evening meetings, training sessions, or special events.
