Job Description

Job Title:
Next Generation and Discipleship Minister Balboa Baptist Church — Hot Springs Village, AR (Full-Time, Exempt) About the Role Balboa Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Next Generation and Discipleship Minister to join our pastoral ministry staff. Reporting directly to the Lead Pastor, this role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the spiritual formation of our congregation from youth through adulthood. You will provide direct, week-to-week leadership for middle and high school ministries (grades 6-12) while maintaining high-level ownership of the church's comprehensive adult discipleship pathway.
Key Responsibilities Next Generation Ministry:
Plan and execute weekly environments, teaching, and programming for middle and high school students. Recruit, train, and mentor adult volunteers to lead student small groups. Organize camps, retreats, and mission trips, while proactively partnering with and resourcing parents. Coordinate with the Family Ministry Director and develop fellowship opportunities for college and young adult members.
Adult Discipleship Pathway:
Partner with the Lead Pastor to identify, develop, and integrate discipleship opportunities across various formats (Bible classes, small groups, etc.) to facilitate spiritual growth from new believers to leadership development. Align ministries with overarching church discipleship goals alongside the Men's, Women's, and Bible Class Directors.
Pastoral Leadership & Administration:
Serve as a collaborative member of the paid pastoral staff to fulfill shared responsibilities and participate directly in the Church Council. Provide staff oversight to lay leaders, ministry directors, and manage the annual budget allocation with fiscal integrity.
Qualifications & Skills Ministry Calling:
Must be called by God to ministry, and be a licensed and ordained Southern Baptist Minister. College degree is required (a Master's degree in theology or ministry is preferred). Proven experience in pastoral ministry, specifically within youth ministry and discipleship, is necessary. Strong theological, doctrinal, and administrative skills. Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities are required. A lifestyle and personal theology that aligns with the church's mission of engaging people to find and follow Jesus, alongside our scriptural core values.
