Lead Pastor Job Description:

The Next Gen Pastor will provide leadership, vision, and direction for ministries spanning birth through young professionals, ensuring a unified and intentional discipleship pathway for the next generation. This role exists to help kids, students, and young adults experience Jesus—planting the Gospel, growing in community, and multiplying through service. The ideal leader will oversee and develop leaders across all next gen environments, disciple middle and high school students, equip parents as the primary spiritual influencers, and cultivate a ministry culture where every young person is known, loved, and empowered to live out their faith. This pastor will play a key role in building a cohesive strategy that connects children's ministry, student ministry, and young adult ministry into one clear pathway of spiritual growth. Key Responsibilities Next Generation Leadership Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for ministries from birth through young professionals. Develop a clear and cohesive discipleship pathway across all next gen environments. Lead and invest in key leaders (Children's Director, Student Leaders, Young Adult Leaders). Ensure alignment of curriculum, culture, and strategy across all age groups. Student Ministry Leadership Lead and oversee weekly student gatherings, Bible studies, outreach events, and camps. Build a relational ministry by intentionally spending time with students outside regular programs. Teach the Bible in a way that engages today's students and points them toward Jesus. Develop a student leadership pipeline that equips and empowers students to serve and lead. Family & Parent Engagement Equip and resource parents as primary spiritual leaders in the home. Create environments and events that foster connection between parents and students. Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and prayer for families facing life challenges. Volunteer & Leader Development Recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders across all next gen ministries. Build a healthy ministry culture marked by biblical discipleship, teamwork, and accountability. Ensure all safety, onboarding, and background check procedures are followed. Church-Wide Leadership Collaborate with staff to align next gen ministry with the overall vision and direction of the church. Represent Mission Grove Church in local schools, sports, and community networks. Assist with church outreach, camps, retreats, and special events. Qualifications A growing, demonstrated relationship with Jesus Christ. A strong character who meets the qualifications of leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4. Agreement with the doctrine, vision, and values of Mission Grove Church. Experience leading student ministry (paid or volunteer). Ability to teach Scripture with clarity, creativity, and conviction. Strong communication, time management, and leadership skills. Relational, fun, approachable, and intentional. Preferred (Not Required) Bible college or seminary training.
