Oro Valley, AZ Primary Function:
Under the direction of the Liturgy/Music Director, is responsible for performing during the weekly liturgical music program for Sunday and liturgical celebrations. The employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life , "…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4:1) Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this
Ministerial Position:
Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the School by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Minister may not espouse, in word or deed, any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey; strive to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example. Serve as a cantor for assigned liturgies. Attend scheduled rehearsals, masses, and other choir or church functions as scheduled by the Director (or Assistant Director) of Music and provide technical assistance in leading or assisting with sectional rehearsals as assigned. At the direction of and consultation with the Director (or Assistant Director) of Music, strengthen the core sound of the choir. Work collaboratively with other section leaders. Perform as a lay minister in support of the parish's spiritual and pastoral mission. Be professional and perform as liturgical role models for other choir members, in accordance with Church protocol, including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations. Shall abide by Catholic principles in the teacher's professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical/Mental Requirements :
Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal music and office environment.
Required Activities:
Singing, walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling, hearing; carrying
Basic Qualifications :
Musical skill expectations (ability to read music or sing independently on a part, sight-reading, etc) Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is expected at all times Perform tasks in a timely manner Weekend and evening work is required Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in music (voice, music education, etc.) or equivalent experience in music Experience collaborating with other singers and instrumentalists
Other/Preferred Skills:
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
