This vital role involves providing spiritual guidance, delivering impactful sermons, and fostering a welcoming environment where individuals can grow in their faith journey. The Pastor will serve as a spiritual leader, mentor, and counselor, actively engaging with congregation members to support their spiritual, emotional, and social well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through faith-based leadership and community outreach. Responsibilities Deliver engaging sermons and teachings that inspire and uplift the congregation, aligning with core Christian principles. Provide pastoral care and support during times of grief, illness, or crisis, including bereavement support and hospice care coordination. Lead worship services, prayer meetings, and special religious events to foster community participation. Offer Christian counseling and mentoring to individuals seeking spiritual guidance or facing personal challenges. Plan and organize community outreach programs, seminars, and educational workshops that promote faith development. Lead weekly worship services (sermon preparation and delivery, liturgy planning) Provide pastoral care: hospital visits, counseling referrals, funerals, weddings as needed Officiate sacraments and baptisms according to Baptist polity Support and supervise church staff and volunteers; facilitate staff/leadership meetings Guide congregational assessment and visioning activities to prepare for permanent pastor search Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with deacons/trustees/search committee and key leaders Oversee administrative tasks (weekly bulletin, communications, budget oversight in coordination with treasurer) Foster community engagement and urban ministry partnerships (local outreach, service projects) Maintain records and ensure compliance with denominational reporting as required Manage conflict resolution within the congregation with tact and compassion, ensuring a harmonious church environment. Engage in public speaking engagements to represent the church at community events and interfaith activities. Requirements Proven experience in Christian ministry or pastoral roles with strong leadership capabilities. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to connect effectively with diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability in public speaking, presentation skills, and event planning for religious gatherings. Knowledge of bereavement support practices, hospice care principles, and crisis intervention techniques. Strong background in Christian counseling, mentoring, conflict management, and crisis management. Ability to inspire others through teaching, preaching, and personal example while maintaining professionalism. Relevant theological education or ordination from an accredited institution is preferred.
