Job Description
Our Present Need We are looking for a staff pastor who will help shape the spiritual culture of our church through both gathered worship and discipleship.
This leader will:
Shepherd and oversee corporate worship gatherings, cultivating services that are theologically rich, spiritually formative, and deeply engaging. Build and lead teams that embody our values of sincerity, generosity, and loyalty. Integrate worship into the broader mission of making mature disciples who make disciples. Purpose To lead Bay Cities Fellowship in shaping Christ-centered, theologically grounded, spiritually formative, and missionally engaging corporate worship gatherings. This pastor will help cultivate Sunday services that are biblically rich, pastorally sensitive, welcoming to guests, and deeply participatory for the church family. In addition to leading gathered worship, this pastor will contribute to the broader pastoral life of the church through discipleship, care, leadership development, and support of the church's mission to make mature disciples who make disciples.Scope Reports to:
Lead Pastor under the oversight of theElders Direct Ministry Collaboration:
Lead Pastor, current Worship Director during transition or restructuring, Care and Communications Coordinator, production volunteers, service teams, and key ministry leaders Supervises /Oversees:
Worship volunteers, musicians, vocalists, production volunteers, readers, hosts, prayer team members, and Sunday service support teams Character Expectations An obedient follower of Jesus who demonstrates personal spiritual maturity and pastoral credibility Qualified for pastoral ministry according to 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Theologically grounded, emotionally healthy, relationally wise, and spiritually dependable. Teachable and willing to grow theologically, practically, emotionally, and spiritually. Collaborative with the Lead Pastor, Elders, staff, and ministry volunteers. Willing to affirm the Congregational Covenant of Bay Cities Fellowship. Approved by the elders of Bay Cities Fellowship. Key Competencies The ability to lead worship with both confidence and humility. Theological depth appropriate for service planning, pastoral ministry, and congregational formation. Strong instincts for volunteer recruitment, training, shepherding, and development. The ability to build sustainable ministry systems rather than merely perform ministry tasks personally. Musical skill and pastoral discernment in leading corporate worship. Sensitivity to the spiritual needs of believers, guests, newcomers, and seekers. A collaborative approach to planning worship gatherings in partnership with preaching, prayer, communion, testimony, baptism, and congregational response. Five years of training and/or experience preferred in worship ministry. A degree and/or equivalent training in religion, theology, church ministry, or a related area preferred.Responsibilities :
Gathered Worship Leadership | This pastor will serve as the primary architect and leader of the Sunday worship experience under the overall theological and directional leadership of the Lead Pastor. Worship Ministry Systems + Volunteer Development | This role will not only lead worship personally but also build the structures that make healthy Sunday ministry sustainable. General Pastoral Ministry and Discipleship | As an associate pastor, this leader will also contribute to the broader shepherding and discipleship life of the church. Community + Missional Presence | While the primary focus of this role is gathered worship, this pastor should also help Bay Cities remain outward-facing in its Sunday gatherings and broader ministry culture.
