Job Description

Seminole First Baptist Church (SFBC), located in Seminole, Florida is searching for our next senior pastor. We are a debt-free, multi-generational church with a blended contemporary/traditional service. We typically have 175-225 in attendance in any given week. Our church was established in 1960 and is a part of the Southern Baptist Convention as well as the Florida Baptist Convention. SFBC adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention on June 14, 2000, as amended. SFBC has a friendly, inviting atmosphere and is eager for a pastor with proven leadership qualities who is devoted to the unapologetic truth of the gospel. Our church family is seeking a servant leader who: Preaches and teaches God's Word as led by the Spirit and will be the principal communicator of God's Word in public worship to ensure that SFBC is growing to maturity in Christ. Is transformed by the renewal of the mind, spends time in prayer and his personal time with the Lord. Models the heart of the Shepherd by visiting members, new residents of the community, ministers to the sick and needy, and performs other duties of the pastorate. Motivates and encourages the congregation as the principal spiritual leader and vision-caster of the church. Leads the church to understand, embrace, and accomplish its mission to make disciples both locally and globally and ensures the church is challenged and equipped to be obedient to the Great Commission. Leads and mentors the staff and lay leaders to develop the skills needed to successfully grow in their roles. Develops, communicates, and implements a vision for the spiritual growth of the church. Practices Biblical counseling in partnership with local Christian counselors in practical applications such as past trauma, marital counseling, financial counseling, etc. Partners with and is accountable to church leadership teams per the constitution and by-laws. Sets an example of stewardship with resources, finances, facilities, time, etc. Leads and equips the congregation to serve within the church for the continued health of the church. Is a champion for moral character, humility, wisdom and integrity to show Church's role in lives by emphasizing the importance of church membership, discipleship, church discipline, and missions focus. Qualifications Must be an ordained Southern Baptist minister. Must be a graduate of a Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Must meet scriptural qualifications for pastoral ministry as outlined in 1 Timothy and Titus. Experience in various areas of counseling is a plus. Prefer experience with leading and managing staff and team building. Prefer 10 years of increasingly responsible experiences in pastoral roles. Evidence of exegetical/ expository preaching of the Bible with careful attention to the Word and God's intent. Able to communicate and teach sound theology on key issues such as the doctrine of God, sin, man, evangelism, discipleship, unity, and worship.
