This person nurtures faith formation, builds authentic relationships, and creates opportunities for young people to grow in Christ, participate in the life of the church, and serve in the world. Grounded in the Gospel and the life of the church, this leader works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and families to cultivate a vibrant, welcoming, and Christ-centered community for youth and young adults. Primary Responsibilities 1. Faith Formation & Discipleship Plan and lead a comprehensive ministry for grades 6-12 and young adults (post-high school through early 30s). Foster a culture of openness, belonging, spiritual growth, and honest conversation about faith and life. Equip youth and young adults to live out their baptismal identity in daily life. 2. Confirmation Ministry (Middle School) Oversee a multi-year confirmation program rooted in Lutheran theology and practice. Coordinate curriculum, teaching schedule, retreats, and service opportunities. Support transition from Children to Middle School ministries. Recruit, train, and support adult mentors and small group leaders. Engage parents/guardians as partners in faith formation. Develop regular gatherings that include fellowship, faith discussion, and service. 3. High School Ministry Develop regular gatherings that include fellowship, faith discussion, and service. Organize retreats, mission experiences, and special events. Provide leadership development opportunities for youth within the congregation. Maintain consistent relational presence (attendance at events, one-on-one connections, etc.). 4. Young Adult Ministry Develop a strategy to reach out the growing young adult population in our community Cultivate a welcoming and flexible ministry for young adults (college-age and beyond). Organize gatherings for community, faith exploration, and service. Support transitions (high school to college, college to vocation, relocation, etc.). Encourage integration of young adults into broader congregational life. 5. Intergenerational Connection Build bridges between youth/young adults and the wider congregation. Encourage participation in worship, service, and leadership roles. Collaborate with other ministry areas to create intergenerational experiences. 6. Leadership & Administration Recruit, train, and support volunteers and ministry teams. Manage ministry budgets and calendars. Communicate regularly with families and the congregation (email, text, social media, etc.). Ensure safe church practices and adherence to child protection policies. 7. Pastoral Care & Presence Provide a caring, trustworthy presence in the lives of youth and young adults. Be available for conversation, support, and faith guidance. Partner with pastoral staff in care situations as appropriate. Qualifications A growing and active Christian faith, grounded in Scripture and the Lutheran tradition (or willingness to work within it). Passion for working with youth and young adults and ability to build meaningful relationships. Experience in ministry, education, or a related field preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a staff team. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
