Role:
The Chaplain will provide compassionate spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and staff within the healthcare setting in Atlanta, GA This role is essential in addressing the diverse spiritual and emotional needs of individuals during times of crisis, grief, and healing. The Chaplain will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate pastoral care into the overall treatment plan, ensuring holistic patient-centered care. They will also lead and develop programs that foster spiritual well-being and resilience among patients and staff. Ultimately, the Chaplain serves as a vital resource for guidance, comfort, and advocacy, promoting dignity and respect for patient rights throughout their care journey.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ordination or recognized certification as a Chaplain or equivalent spiritual care provider. Experience in pastoral counseling and grief support within a healthcare or similar setting. Strong understanding of patient rights and ethical considerations in spiritual care. Ability to make independent decisions and manage sensitive situations with confidentiality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent specialized training. Experience in volunteer management and program development within a healthcare context. Background in psychotherapy or mental health counseling. Familiarity with stewardship principles and their application in spiritual care. Previous experience working in a hospice environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide individualized pastoral counseling and grief support to patients and their families. Conduct spiritual assessments and develop care plans that align with patients' beliefs and values. Offer crisis intervention and psychotherapy support as needed to address emotional and spiritual distress. Manage and coordinate volunteer chaplaincy programs to extend spiritual care services. Advocate for patient rights and ensure that spiritual needs are respected within the healthcare environment. Develop and implement programs that promote spiritual wellness and community engagement. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to integrate pastoral care into patient treatment and discharge planning. Maintain accurate documentation of pastoral care activities and patient interactions. Make independent decisions regarding the provision of spiritual care while adhering to ethical and organizational guidelines.
Skills:
The Chaplain will utilize stewardship skills to responsibly manage resources and volunteer programs that support spiritual care services. Grief counseling and pastoral counseling skills are applied daily to provide empathetic support and guidance to patients and families facing loss or emotional challenges. Volunteer management expertise ensures the effective coordination and training of volunteers who extend the reach of pastoral care. Psychotherapy knowledge aids in addressing complex emotional and spiritual issues, enhancing the overall well-being of those served.
