Job Description:
LIFE Church Next Gen Pastor Position Description Overview The Next Gen Pastor at LIFE Church provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all Next Generation ministries, including KidLIFE (birth-5th grade), StudentLIFE (6th-12th grade), and CollegeLIFE. This role is responsible for developing a comprehensive, age-appropriate disciple-making pathway that helps children, students, and young adults grow into lifelong followers of Jesus. The Next Gen Pastor is a leader of leaders who builds and empowers teams rather than doing ministry alone. This pastor collaborates closely with church staff and volunteer leaders to carry out LIFE Church's mission of loving God, loving others, and making disciples. The Next Gen Pastor also partners with parents and families, recognizing them as the primary disciple-makers in the home. The Next Gen Pastor will promote and use LIFE Church's BLESS discipleship model:
  • B•Begin your day with God.
  • L•Listen to God, and do what He says.
  • E•Enrich your soul through community, confession and care.
  • S•Serve according to your spiritual gifts.
  • S•Share your time, resources, and story.
Key Responsibilities Vision & Strategy
  • Dream, plan, and implement compelling Next Gen ministries that unchurched children and students are drawn to attend and that inspire churched kids and students to take next steps in discipleship.
  • Design, execute, and continually refine an annual ministry plan that includes an age-appropriate disciple-making strategy for birth through college.
  • Align all Next Gen ministries with the overall vision, values, and disciple-making model of LIFE Church. Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop ministry staff and volunteer leaders as a developer of people, not a sole ministry doer.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and care for volunteers across all Next Gen environments.
  • Build healthy leadership pipelines that identify, equip, and empower future leaders. Family & Parent Partnership
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-filled relationships with families at LIFE Church.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with parents of children and students.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor, staff and to create training and equipping opportunities for parents to disciple their children at home. Ministry Environments & Events
  • Create and sustain safe, welcoming, and engaging environments where children, students, and young adults can encounter God's love.
  • Ensure all safety, security, and child protection policies are followed and regularly reviewed.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for camps, retreats, outreach events, and special Next Gen gatherings. Pastoral Care & Outreach
  • Pastor and shepherd the children, students, and families God has already brought to LIFE Church.
  • Maintain a missional mindset, viewing the role as a pastor not only to those in the church, but also to the thousands of children, students, and young adults in the community who do not yet have a relationship with Christ. Core Competencies Spiritual & Pastoral Leadership
  • Evidences a growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and lives a life aligned with biblical values.
  • Demonstrates a pastoral heart for children, students, young adults, and families.
  • Models disciple-making in personal life and ministry leadership. Leader of Leaders
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and empower volunteer and staff leaders.
  • Delegates effectively and builds ownership within teams.
  • Provides clear direction, encouragement, and accountability. Strategic Thinking & Execution
  • Thinks strategically about long-term ministry impact while executing with excellence in the present.
  • Able to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing ministry needs. Communication & Collaboration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with children, students, parents, volunteers, and staff.
  • Works collaboratively across all ministry areas.
  • Able to cast vision in a compelling and motivating way. Organizational & Administrative Skills
  • Demonstrates strong planning, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Manages multiple ministries, volunteers, and events effectively.
  • Pays attention to details while keeping a big-picture perspective. Relational Intelligence
  • Builds trust and rapport with families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Navigates conflict with grace, humility, and clarity.
  • Culturally aware and able to minister to diverse families and students. Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in ministry, theology, education, leadership, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (MDiv, MA in Ministry, or equivalent) preferred but not required. Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in children's, student, college, family, or Next Gen ministry.
  • Proven experience leading and growing a ministry through teams and volunteer leaders.
