Director of Youth and Family Ministries Reports to: Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)

Salaried exempt Job Summary Coordinate a program for middle and high school youth that points them to a relationship with God and helps equip them in their faith to serve others in ministries within Asbury United Methodist Church and in their community. Coordinate a program for families that points them to opportunities for spiritual growth and service.
Essential Functions:
Youth:
Build authentic relationships with youth and their families through trust, listening, and active support of school and community activities. Actively engage with youth and families who are not connected to Asbury. Plan and lead weekly Sunday morning youth group, Bible study and participation in worship services (i.e. communion, music, other aspects of worship services). Provide additional opportunities for youth to engage in spiritual development and group projects or activities (service projects, mission experience, small groups). Collaborate with Children's ministries to get to know all the youth of the church, look for opportunities for shared events and provide seamless transition for elementary youth to middle/high school ministries. Actively recruit volunteers to assist with youth ministries. Encourage active participation in other ministries of the church; connect youth with other members of the congregation. Partner with the Pastor and other church members to facilitate yearly confirmation process. Provide input for the Scholarship Committee of the Asbury Foundation. Maintain clear, consistent communication with youth, parents/guardians, Pastor, SPRC and ministry leaders.
Families:
Create programs and activities that bring individuals and families together to build relationships within the church and match them with opportunities for growth and service within the congregation and out in the community. Work with the staff team and church members in the process of member engagement from first time visits to active participation and membership. Coordinate the Neighborhood Bridge Builder Program; ensure all are assigned to a neighborhood group; recruit and coach "captains" to provide activities and outreach so that every Asbury member is personally contacted at least three times a year. Track participation and follow up to help people take next steps in faith and leadership. Communicate specific needs and requests to Pastor, Congregational Care and Prayer Ministries if necessary for additional support. Be visibly present outside of youth programming (worship, coffee time, church events) to welcome visitors and deepen connections with members.
Other Duties:
Meet with Pastor and other staff for planning and visioning. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and other committee meetings as necessary; submit requested reports in advance. Manage budget for both programs and provide quarterly and year end program and financial information. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Active Christian faith with a clear understanding of United Methodist beliefs and practice; able to lead within UMC parameters. Associate's degree or higher preferred as well as experience working in church ministry. Proficient with communication and collaboration tools (Microsoft, Google Docs) and platforms commonly used by youth; comfortable with social/media communication guidelines. Able to recruit, equip, and support volunteers; team player who collaborates well across ministries. Able to pass a background check July 22, 2026
Pay:
$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
