Senior Pastor Position Summary The Bi-Vocational Assistant Pastor serves alongside the Senior Pastor in providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, discipleship, and administrative support to the congregation. This position is designed for an individual who maintains outside employment while faithfully assisting in the growth and development of a growing church. The Assistant Pastor is expected to model Christian character, uphold biblical doctrine, and support the vision and mission of the church. Primary Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership Assist the Senior Pastor in carrying out the vision and mission of the church. Preach and teach during worship services as assigned. Lead Bible studies, small groups, and discipleship classes. Assist with prayer meetings and other spiritual development opportunities. Pastoral Care Visit members who are hospitalized, homebound, or in need of encouragement. Provide biblical counseling and spiritual guidance when requested. Assist with weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion, and baby dedications as assigned. Ministry Development Help recruit, train, and mentor ministry leaders and volunteers. Support outreach and evangelism initiatives within the community. Encourage member engagement and spiritual growth. Administrative Support Assist with planning church programs and special events. Participate in leadership meetings and ministry planning. Help oversee ministry operations as delegated by the Senior Pastor. Community Engagement Represent the church in community outreach efforts. Build relationships that promote the church's mission and witness. Qualifications A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a life that reflects biblical integrity. Agreement with the church's statement of faith and core beliefs. Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry. Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers. Previous ministry experience is preferred. Ordination or current pursuit of ministerial credentials is preferred. Time Commitment Approximately 10-20 hours per week. Availability for Sunday worship services, select evening ministries, leadership meetings, and special church events. Compensation This is a bi-vocational position that provides a monthly stipend based on the church's approved budget and financial resources. The stipend is intended to honor the Assistant Pastor's ministry service while recognizing that the individual maintains outside employment. Expectations The Bi-Vocational Assistant Pastor is expected to: Demonstrate a lifestyle of prayer, holiness, and servant leadership. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Faithfully support the vision and leadership of the Senior Pastor. Foster unity within the church body. Continue personal and spiritual growth through study, prayer, and ministry development. This description provides flexibility for a growing congregation while clearly outlining the expectations and responsibilities of a bi-vocational assistant pastor. You can also customize the monthly stipend amount (for example, $500-$2,000 per month, depending on the church's size and budget) and add denominational or doctrinal requirements if needed
