Fundraising Full Job Description Position Title:
Director of Mission Integration, Pastoral Care & Development Position Summary The Director of Mission Integration, Pastoral Care & Development serves as the spiritual and relational leader of the organization, ensuring that all aspects of care reflect the dignity of the human person in accordance with Catholic teaching. This role oversees the pastoral care program, including supervision of Pastoral Associates, while also leading outreach, community engagement, and development efforts that sustain and grow the ministry. Through compassionate presence, leadership, and storytelling, this position bridges bedside ministry with mission advancement. Key Responsibilities 1. Pastoral Care Leadership & Oversight Provide direct spiritual care to residents, families, and staff, especially at end of life Supervise and support Pastoral Associates , including: Scheduling coverage to ensure consistent pastoral presence Providing mentorship, formation, and guidance Ensuring quality, consistency, and documentation of spiritual care Coordinate access to the Sacraments (Mass, Confession, Anointing of the Sick) Oversee prayer opportunities (Adoration, rosary, devotions) across the community Ensure each resident's spiritual needs are assessed and honored Lead regular pastoral care team meetings and case reviews Collaborate with clergy and parish partners 2. Mission Integration Promote and safeguard the Catholic identity of the organization Lead staff formation on dignity, suffering, redemptive care, and end-of-life spirituality Integrate faith into daily operations in a meaningful and approachable way Support ethical decision-making consistent with Catholic teaching Serve as a resource to leadership and staff on mission-related matters 3. Outreach & Community Engagement Serve as a visible ambassador of the ministry Build and maintain relationships with parishes, diocesan partners, and Catholic organizations Coordinate tours, presentations, and speaking engagements Develop and oversee volunteer engagement, including parish-based volunteers Collaborate with pastoral associates when appropriate to extend outreach presence 4. Development & Fundraising Cultivate relationships with donors, benefactors, and community supporters Lead and support fundraising initiatives and campaigns Guide the collection and sharing of mission-centered stories (in collaboration with pastoral team) Ensure all communications reflect the dignity and sacredness of the ministry Partner on newsletters, donor communications, and marketing efforts Support grant writing and foundation outreach 5. Admissions & Family Support Collaboration Partner with admissions to support families during transitions and decision-making Ensure a pastoral presence is available early in the admission process Help communicate the mission and value of Catholic end-of-life care Guide pastoral associates in supporting families consistently Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises Pastoral Associates Responsible for: Hiring, onboarding, and training pastoral staff Performance management and evaluations Ongoing formation and spiritual support of team members Establishing standards of care, documentation, and presence Ensures appropriate coverage for weekends, evenings, and critical situations Qualifications Practicing Catholic in good standing, committed to the teachings of the Church Background in theology, pastoral ministry, or related field preferred Experience in pastoral care, hospice, or healthcare ministry required Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Experience in development, fundraising, or outreach preferred Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Core Competencies Pastoral leadership and team development Deep empathy and compassionate presence Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills Ability to integrate mission with operational and development goals Comfort leading both ministry and strategic initiatives Work Environment On-site in a nursing home setting with frequent resident interaction Emotional intensity due to end-of-life care environment Some evenings/weekends required for coverage, events, and outreach Mission-Driven Expectations Model Christ-centered service and compassionate leadership Serve as both a spiritual leader and organizational ambassador Ensure that pastoral care is not isolated, but fully integrated into the life and growth of the ministry A Note on Leadership This role ensures that pastoral care is not dependent on one individual , but is instead a coordinated, mission-driven ministry carried out through a team. The Director both ministers personally and forms others to do the same—extending the reach and impact of the organization.
