Principal Position Summary St. John the Evangelist Catholic School seeks a faithful, knowledgeable, and dedicated 5th/6th Grade Teacher who is committed to the mission of Catholic Classical Education. The teacher will cultivate a love for truth, beauty, and goodness while forming students academically, spiritually, and morally in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Primary Responsibilities Spiritual Formation Model and support the mission of Catholic education through word and example Integrate Catholic teachings across all subject areas Lead students in daily prayer and participate in school liturgies, Masses, and devotions Foster virtue, moral development, and a Christ-centered classroom environment Academic Instruction Teach core subjects including Language Arts, Mathematics, History, Religion, and Science using a classical approach (grammar stage foundations with introduction to logic and reasoning) Implement a curriculum rooted in classical pedagogy, emphasizing: Great books and primary sources Memorization, narration, and recitation Socratic discussion and critical thinking Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs Maintain high academic standards and expectations Classroom Management Establish a structured, orderly, and joyful classroom environment Promote respect, responsibility, and self-discipline Use positive discipline aligned with Catholic values Assessment & Communication Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative methods Maintain accurate records of grades and progress Communicate effectively with parents regarding student growth, behavior, and academic performance Participate in parent-teacher conferences Collaboration & Professional Growth Collaborate with faculty to ensure curriculum alignment and school-wide consistency Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events Continue formation in classical education and Catholic teaching Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education or related field Practicing Catholic in good standing Knowledge of or willingness to learn Classical Education pedagogy Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Teaching certification (state requirements as applicable) Apply Today To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter to .
