Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Provides patients, family members and Hospital staff emotional, pastoral, spiritual and sacramental support and guidance to assist them through periods of stress, crisis or anxiety. Visits assigned patients and accepts referrals; documents care and support provided and participates in educational programs. May offer prayer or reflection from the patient's life experience. Assists patients to understand more fully life's events as they relate to their spiritual and emotional well-being.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
: Completion of a curriculum of theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral care. A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Theology, religious studies, education, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training preferred. In good standing with the Church by way of ecclesiastical endorsement. Sensitivity and stamina to minister to patients with varying physical and mental dysfunctions. Flexibility in work hours, programs and services. Sensitivity and desire to work with patients, families, clergy and volunteers of varying faith backgrounds. Knowledge of and support for the "Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services." Experience with working as part of a team; good communication skills.
