$22.00 to $24.00 Hourly Send applications or inquiries to: aHJAcG9ydGxhbmRkaW9jZXNlLm9yZw== Job Description The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lay Catholic Hospital Chaplain to serve at Maine Medical Center. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to accompany patients and their families through times of illness, offering pastoral care rooted in the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. The Lay Chaplain serves as a visible presence of the Catholic Church within the hospital, providing spiritual support, advocating for patient needs, and coordinating sacramental ministry in collaboration with Catholic priest chaplains and the hospital's Spiritual Care team. Responsibilities include visiting Catholic patients, responding to pastoral care requests, supporting families, facilitating communication regarding sacramental needs, and maintaining appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital requirements. This position also plays an important role in supporting and coordinating Catholic volunteers, including Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and fostering strong collaboration between hospital staff and Catholic clergy.
Schedule:
Part-time, 24 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday)
Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic in good standing (pastor recommendation required) Completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent Previous experience in a hospital or pastoral setting preferred Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills This is a unique opportunity to live out your faith through direct ministry, bringing comfort, presence, and hope to those in need.
