Job Description
The Context We exist to lead people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus. We desire to be a church of all cultures where curious, skeptical, and hurting people love to attend. We believe that God has uniquely positioned us to be Gospel-influencers throughout southeast Minnesota and around the globe. As a destination city for the medical and tech industries, we are committed to answering the call of Christ by reaching out to the one hundred thousand Rochester residents who are not connected to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also aim to connect with and influence as many of the estimated three million annual visitors to Rochester as possible. Our Executive Pastor of Church and Community Engagement is leaving to go lead at a church in a different state. The creation of this role is a part of a restructure because of this upcoming transition. The Role The Community Engagement Pastor champions and advances the church s vision of leading people to be fully devoted followers of Jesus. This leader serves as the primary catalyst for helping people move from attending church to actively engaging in the community. The Community Engagement Pastor develops and strengthens strategic partnerships throughout the Greater Rochester area, oversees the church s global partnerships, creates clear pathways for congregational involvement, and equips volunteer leaders to extend the church s impact locally and globally. As the champion of the church s Community Engagement strategic objective, this pastor serves as both visionary leader and practitioner, ensuring community engagement is woven throughout the life of the church. All employees must sign our Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Agreement. Responsibilities Community Partnerships Strengthen existing partnerships and develop new strategic relationships throughout the Greater Rochester area. Serve as the primary liaison with local nonprofit, educational, civic, and ministry partners. Evaluate partnership effectiveness and represent the church in community collaborations and initiatives. Community Engagement Leadership Champion the church s Community Engagement strategic objective. Develop and execute strategies that increase congregational participation in local and global mission opportunities. Create clear pathways for engagement, establish measurable goals, and communicate stories that inspire participation and ownership. Monitor and report on engagement outcomes and strategic progress. Global Partnerships Oversee and strengthen the church s global ministry partnerships. Maintain communication with global partners. In partnership with the Missions Advisory Team, ensure all global partnerships align with the church s mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. Ministry & Volunteer Development Partner with ministry leaders to integrate community engagement opportunities into every ministry area. Recruit, equip, coach, and empower volunteer leaders and teams. Develop leadership structures that foster ownership, multiplication, and long-term sustainability. Qualifications & Experience Proven ministry leadership experience with a track record of developing partnerships, volunteers, and ministry initiatives. Strong communication, leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills. Ability to teach biblical truth in engaging and relevant ways. Passion for community engagement, discipleship, and life in Rochester, Minnesota. Staff Expectations Embody the mission, vision, and values of Autumn Ridge. Participate regularly in weekend worship.
