Director of Student MinistriesJob Summary The Director of Student Ministries reports directly to the Lead Pastor and provides strategic, spiritual, and operational leadership for all student ministries at First Assembly Church . This position oversees ministry to junior high and high school students and is responsible for developing healthy ministry environments where students can encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and actively live out their Christian faith. The Director of Student Ministries will provide leadership to staff and volunteers while overseeing teaching, worship, discipleship, outreach, relational ministry, events, and student ministry programming. This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong communication, creative thinking, teaching ability, volunteer development, project management, organization, and a passion for reaching and discipling the next generation. Primary ResponsibilitiesStudent Ministry Leadership Provide strategic leadership and vision for all student ministries, including junior high and high school services, worship, teaching, discipleship, outreach, evangelism, and relational community. Develop and implement ministry strategies that promote spiritual growth, student engagement, healthy relationships, and long-term retention. Create environments and experiences that lead students toward salvation, spiritual maturity, discipleship, and active participation in the life of the church. Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership. Meet regularly with students and their families and invest in relationships beyond the walls of the church. Support and encourage parents as they fulfill their roles as Christian parents and primary spiritual influences in the lives of their children. Volunteer Leadership and Development Recruit, identify, equip, develop, and retain qualified student ministry volunteers. Identify emerging leaders and develop a clear pathway for volunteer onboarding, training, evaluation, and leadership development. Establish and maintain appropriate volunteer screening, onboarding, and evaluation processes. Conduct regular training and development opportunities that help volunteers grow spiritually and strengthen their leadership skills. Develop training materials, resources, and sessions for staff, volunteers, and ministry team members. Foster a healthy, unified, and spiritually growing volunteer culture focused on excellence and serving students well. Ministry Planning, Budgeting, and Events Develop and manage accurate annual student ministry budgets that support ongoing programming, activities, camps, special events, and facility or room improvements. Plan, coordinate, and execute student ministry events, camps, retreats, services, and special projects. Manage ministry projects and resources effectively while maintaining appropriate financial stewardship. Evaluate ministry programs and initiatives to ensure they are aligned with the church's vision, mission, values, and goals. Establish measurable department goals related to student growth, engagement, discipleship, and retention. Spiritual Formation and Outreach Lead and equip students to actively live out their Christian faith through outreach, evangelism, discipleship, service, and engagement within their communities. Develop ministry opportunities that encourage students to discover and use their gifts and abilities for God's purposes. Provide biblical teaching and discipleship that is consistent with the doctrinal commitments of First Assembly Church. Model a life of prayer, spiritual leadership, integrity, and obedience to the Word of God. Pastoral Care and Team Leadership Provide appropriate pastoral care, encouragement, prayer, and spiritual guidance to students and families. Work collaboratively with pastors, staff, volunteers, parents, and other ministry departments to advance the overall mission of First Assembly Church. Attend required staff and ministry meetings and participate in church-wide initiatives and services. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
