Job Description

St. James (Bozeman) and St. Paul's (Virginia City) are two historic Montana parishes embarking on a new partnership through shared a shared clergy person.

St. James is growing and the current staff and clergy can't keep up while St. Paul's has been without a priest since their former Rector retired in 2024. We are searching for a priest or transitional deacon to serve half-time at St. James as an Associate Rector and half-time at St. Paul's as a Priest-in-Charge. After two years, each parish will consider the incumbent for promotion to Co-Rector and Rector, respectively.

These two churches are about an hour and 20 minutes apart—a relatively short distance in the Diocese of Montana—and in two very different communities. Bozeman is a university town (Go Cats!) and a growing city of over 58,000 people with a vibrant arts and culture scene, while Virginia City, which was once MT's largest city at the time of St. Paul's founding during the gold boom years of the 1860s, is now a very small town of about 220 people and full of living history.
