Job Description:

Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Family Ministries Position Summary:

The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Family Ministries (hereafter, "Associate Pastor") serves the congregation, pastor, staff, and ministry teams of Bradley Church by providing spiritual leadership, vision, development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of discipleship ministries across all generations of the church. This includes ministry to children, youth, young adults, families, and senior adults. The Associate Pastor's primary responsibility is to cultivate spiritual growth through intentional relationships, biblical teaching, small groups, leadership development, pastoral care, and intergenerational engagement. This position provides direct leadership to discipleship initiatives and family ministries while ensuring alignment with the mission, doctrine, and values of Bradley Church and the Global Methodist Church. The Associate Pastor will perform all duties in accordance with this job description under the direction of the Senior Pastor and in partnership with the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC).

Minimum Qualifications and Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; seminary training or theological education preferred
• Minimum of four (4) years of ministry experience preferred; equivalent ministry leadership experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
• Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry with a heart for discipleship, teaching, and shepherding people of all ages
• Willingness to uphold and teach the doctrine, beliefs, and practices of the Global Methodist Church
• Commitment to adhering to Bradley Church policies, including Safe Sanctuaries policies and procedures
• Faithful follower of Jesus Christ with a personal and growing relationship with God
• Strong commitment to prayer, spiritual formation, and lifelong learning
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead, recruit, equip, and encourage volunteers and ministry leaders
• Ability to connect relationally with children, youth, young adults, families, and senior adults
• Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, committees, ministry teams, and congregation members
• Proficiency in technology and digital communication platforms, including church management systems, email, social media, and website communication
• Ordination, ordination track, or willingness to pursue credentialing within the Global Methodist Church will be needed

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

General Discipleship Leadership:

• Develop, lead, and evaluate a comprehensive and relational discipleship strategy for all ages within the church
• Foster a culture of spiritual growth, biblical literacy, prayer, service, and Christian community
• Provide leadership, encouragement, and support to ministry teams, committees, classes, and volunteer leaders
• Assist the Senior Pastor in planning and leading new member classes, confirmation classes, and discipleship pathways
• Encourage participation in small groups, Bible studies, Sunday School classes, and intergenerational ministry opportunities
• Coordinate and evaluate curriculum and discipleship resources to ensure theological consistency and spiritual effectiveness
• Work collaboratively with church staff and lay leadership to align ministry efforts with the church's mission and vision
• Utilize church communication channels, including bulletins, newsletters, website, email, and social media, to provide clear and timely communication
• Serve as an ex-officio member of the Single Governing Board, Education Committee, and NOW Committee
• Assist with worship leadership, pastoral care, visitation, funerals, and other pastoral responsibilities as assigned by the

Senior Pastor Young Adult and Family Ministries:

• Develop and lead ministries that support and strengthen young adults and families in their spiritual growth and connection to the church
• Build intentional relationships with young adults, parents, and families through regular communication, encouragement, and personal engagement
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers serving in family ministry areas
• Encourage and equip participation in Sunday School classes, small groups, and family discipleship opportunities
• Provide resources and encouragement for parents to serve as spiritual leaders within their homes
• Promote intergenerational involvement and fellowship throughout the church body

Children's Ministries:

• Recruit, train, equip, and schedule children's Sunday School teachers, Children's Church volunteers, and nursery workers
• Coordinate and oversee children's ministry programming and events
• Review, select, and implement biblically sound curriculum for children's ministries
• Ensure all children's ministry volunteers comply
