LOCATION
Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC), a Lighthouse Congregation in Greensboro, North Carolina
JOB SUMMARY
Full-time position (averaging 40 hours/week) providing spiritual leadership for ministries serving families of children ages infant through 5th grade, in collaboration with the Pastor for Discipleship.
RESPONSIBILITY
Provide spiritual leadership in collaboration with the Pastor for Discipleship to ministries for families of children ages infant - 5th grade, including, but not limited to: Sunday School/Weekday Groups Seasonal Activities (Day Camp, VBS, retreats, seminars, etc) Children's Worship (in collaboration with pastoral staff) Missional Engagement opportunities Leadership Development Family Partnerships Develop relationships with children, to the extent possible in a large church, and engage in regular ministry contacts with individual children and their families. Collaborate with the Pastor for Discipleship to continually assess Children's Ministries, adding, changing, and updating as needed. Ensure that all children's ministries operate in accordance with United Methodist doctrine and practices, are effective in the formation of children as disciples, and function in concert with the broader ministries of Christ Greensboro. Recruit, develop, and equip lay servant leaders to be a part of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of children's ministries. In conjunction with the Ministry Lead Team, work with the Church Family Life Team to plan and implement seasonal opportunities for all ages. Actively participate in the Discipleship Ministry Team, as a chief representative of children's ministry, to ensure that all ages are effectively being shaped as Christian disciples. DCM will be the primary staff person responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of all childcare workers. DCM will also be responsible for the scheduling of workers, and checking in with them. Work with the Pastor for Discipleship to ensure that all ministries operate in accordance with established Safe Sanctuaries policies and that such policies are regularly evaluated and updated, if needed. At the discretion of the Pastor for Discipleship, assist with collaboration with CEC and Kids Ahead leaders to create connections between those ministries and the broader children's ministries of Greensboro. Create opportunities to build relationships with CEC and Kids Ahead families. Provide monthly chapel for 2's, 3's, and 4's classrooms at CEC. Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings, as needed. Regular involvement in worship leadership (ChristKids Time) and other ministerial needs Work with Children's Administrative Assistant for administrative needs weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in children's ministry within the local church Desire to learn and grow in ministry through webinars, podcasts, etc. A bachelor's degree is required. Graduate degree or equivalent professional experience preferred. Willingness to learn and familiarity with United Methodist doctrine Strong organization, recruiting and communication skills
COMPENSATION
Compensation is based upon relevant education and experience and set by the Staff Parish Relations Committee of Christ Greensboro. Additional benefits are detailed in the Christ Greensboro Employee Handbook.
