Student Ministry Director/Pastor

Founded in 1869, Corinth Reformed Church is a 2,000 member Christ-centered, multi-generational church committed to proclaiming and worshiping Jesus as Lord by growing in faith, extending hope, and serving in love. Our leadership and much of our church identify as evangelical, conservative, or traditional. We are firmly rooted in the truths of Scripture and guided by the Reformed tradition as expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism. We hold unswervingly to the core doctrines of the Christian faith, while maintaining a spirit of charity in non-essential matters. As a demonstration of our emphasis on unity over division, we maintain an historical connection to the United Church of Christ (UCC). We express our unity in Christ in our three distinct Sunday worship services - traditional, blended, and contemporary - all centered on the same Scripture each week and supported by a collaborative pastoral team. Our mission is further lived out through a wide range of discipleship and formation opportunities across all ages on Sundays and throughout the week. Marked out by sprawling grounds and beautiful modern Gothic revival sanctuary, our eighteen-acre campus is situated near the very heart of Hickory, North Carolina, a rapidly growing city an hour northwest of Charlotte, and southeast of Boone.

THE STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTOR/PASTOR

furthers Corinth's mission by leading a comprehensive ministry for students in grade 6 through college, helping them to know, love and follow Jesus. This role focuses on meeting students wherever they are, then moving them into deeper discipleship as they grow and mature.

QUALIFICATIONS

Agreement with our church's faith expressed in Article IV of the church constitution and a demonstrated commitment to high standards of Christian living and service to God Bachelor's degree in religion, theology, youth and family ministry, education or related field (Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary required for "Pastor") At least 5 years of experience in youth or college ministry Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills Proven ability to relate well to both students and adults Passion for teens and young adults, and a demonstrated calling to minister to this demographic Ministerial standing or eligibility for standing in the Western NC Association of the UCC (required for "Pastor")

DUTIES:

Develop and lead a cohesive program for youth (6th-12th grade) and college ministry that aligns with the overall mission and formation process of Corinth Create a welcoming, inclusive and spiritually vibrant environment for students to grow in their faith Plan and lead weekly gatherings for middle school, high school, and college-aged students Prepare and teach biblically sound and relevant messages that engage students across different stages of life Oversee or facilitate small group and discipleship programs for students Organize and lead retreats, mission trips, camps, service projects, and fellowship opportunities for students Recruit, train and support a team of adult leaders and volunteers For the right candidate, we offer a competitive compensation package including salary/housing allowance, health insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, a retirement plan, continuing education and more.
