FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves providing religious service and counseling to patients, inmates and other individuals at a County facility. This is a specialized position which provides services of a religious nature. Work is performed under general administrative direction. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Conducts religious services and administers rites of his particular faith; Counsels with patients and inmates providing guidance on personal and spiritual problems; Conducts a religious education program organizing classes and discussions; Works closely with institution operating personnel to further the rehabilitation of patients and inmates; Consults with other Chaplains and institution administrators in the coordination of the religious program and its relationship to the over-all function of the institution.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of his religion; good knowledge of welfare and penal laws and institutions; ability to approach with understanding individual, spiritual and personal problems; ability to understand the special problems of and to deal effectively with such as the aged and the law offender; ability to work in cooperation with clergymen of all faiths and with the institution's staff; tact; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Adequate training in a recognized institution and experience to indicate the ability to do the work.
