Job Description

Children's Ministry Intern - 8 hours per week
Summary:
Do you love playing with playdough and eating copious amounts of goldfish crackers? Do you dominate at Red Light, Green Light? Do you feel called to Christian ministry but are unsure where to start? This may be the position for you! The Children's Ministry Intern is a paid-to-learn position. Part of the job will be task-oriented but the focus is on learning the ins and outs of how to minister to Elementary Children and Families.
Essential Functions:
The Children's Ministry Intern is a support role, but the hope is that it is an empowering role as well. It requires flexibility, a good attitude and the ability to step out of your comfort zone. Relational Work in cooperation with children's ministry team and Sunday morning ministers Get to know Sunday Morning leaders and staff Getting to know children and families and establishing a relationship first because if they do not know you, they will not care what you have to say. Demonstrate a positive and friendly attitude with the parents and children who are in your care. Work with Children's Ministry team to prepare for Sunday mornings, Wednesday Nights (during midweek programming), for VBS and camps. Strategic Maintain a consistent presence during all elementary ministry events and programs, supporting leaders as needed, interacting with parents and observing for needs and improvement. Participate in and lead activities as empowered to do, observing and asking questions along the way. Operational Help with tech activities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights Develop a worship strategy for Children's ministry worship on Sunday mornings Help lead and participate in all Children's ministry events and programming Help keep rooms looking neat, clean, organized, well-stocked and pleasing to parents and children If not already CPR certified, be willing to become so at an upcoming paid St. Andrew's training Report needs and concerns to the Children's Minister Children's Ministry Activities you will be asked to help with include (but not limited to): Sunday School (weekly) Children's Church (weekly) Wednesday night programming (Wednesday nights 5-10 weeks each semester) Vacation Bible School (June) Parents night out (Quarterly Friday Nights) Kindergarten Bible Boot Camp (January)
Qualifications:
Strong Christian faith - love for God and love for people Commitment to being a growing disciple of Jesus Christ, walking out faith daily Commitment to an ethical lifestyle appropriate for ministry and the core values of the church per employee handbook. Self-motivated to study and improve knowledge and skill in areas of responsibility. Teachable. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through oral and written formats Administrative and relational skills Efficient organizer and time manager Team player who is prompt and dependable Enthusiastic about church's mission Self-starter - takes initiative Neat in appearance so as to communicate a sense of professionalism

Schedule:
As is typical for ministry, this position requires a flexible schedule. It includes agreed upon onsite office hours, Sunday mornings, and evening activities and meetings
Compensation:
