Exempt, salaried position ($10,400-$13,000) Job Overview To oversee and continue the development of a welcoming program for youth grades 6-12. To encourage established relationships and programs, as well create and foster new ones. Maintain safe space and activities for the exploration of life and faith for young people grades 6-12. (weekly youth group, fundraisers, service opportunities, other events as appropriate) Job Responsibilities (bulleted and in order of importance)
- Overseeing youth ministry that is aligned with the congregation's mission and vision. (see First United Methodist Church Corvallis Tenets)
- Planning and coordinating weekly youth group gathering and dinner. (academic year)
- Communicating regularly with youth, families and congregation via email, bulletins, website, and newsletter.
- Sunday Morning Youth Faith Formation grades 6-12
- 2 youth overnights, 1 summer service trip (1 week of supervision)
- Organizing and carrying out 1-3 fundraisers a year for Summer Service Trip
- Identifying, inviting and training volunteers to participate in all levels of youth programming
- Attending Sunday morning worship service regularly
- Serving as an advocate for youth and their families at all levels of church ministry.
- Ensuring the Safe Sanctuary Policy is being followed in all church ministries.
- Keeping accurate records of attendance and providing an accounting of funds that support youth ministry.
- Provides annual budget requests to the finance ministry team for equipment, supplies, and curriculum needs. Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age of 22 per Safe Sanctuary Policy
- Ability to articulate a personal faith, including how that faith calls oneself to be in ministry.
- Ability to work with adults and youth to form effective teams to support youth ministry.
- Skilled in small group and interpersonal dynamics
- Ability to be inclusive of youth, specifically those challenged physically, cognitively, or emotionally, and to welcome participation regardless of sexual orientation or racial/ethnic background.
- Eagerness to develop and participate in a creative, experimenting and safe learning environment.
- Well organized and able to prioritize tasks.

Fully supports the congregation's commitment to prevent youth and child abuse and is committed to reporting any suspected incidents of inappropriate conduct to the Supervisor.
Staff Participation :
Fully participates with the church staff and works toward building bonds of community. Plans ahead and shares timely information. Contributes to building staff morale with open, direct communication that helps to identify and solve problems.
