Faith Alive Community Church Senior Pastor Position Summary Faith Alive Community Church is a small, non-denominational church located in the small town of Wind Gap, PA which is centrally located between the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos and Western New Jersey. Our church seeks to be both Holy Spirit-empowered and firmly grounded in gospel-centered Biblical theology. We are seeking a Senior Pastor who has effective leadership, a passion for discipleship and a desire to use his spiritual giftings to shepherd, lead and grow our church community. This role requires a spiritually mature leader who is committed to faithfully preaching God's Word, providing compassionate pastoral care, offering visionary, biblically grounded leadership, seeking to walk humbly before the Lord in his personal life while seeking the vision and will of the Lord on behalf of the congregation. • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Theology or Biblical Studies or related field Experience
• Preferably a minimum of 2-5 years of pastoral ministry experience, including preaching and teaching in a church
• Demonstrated experience in pastoral care and counseling Skills and Proficiencies
• Strong biblical knowledge and commitment to expository preaching
• Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills
• Proven leadership and administrative abilities
• High level of personal integrity, discipline, discretion, and spiritual maturity
• Ability to engage effectively with a small congregation
• Computer skills sufficient to navigate online resources, basic software and minor church website updates
• Experience in preaching, teaching, counseling and shepherding
• Ability to read, write, hear and speak English clearly to communicate with others
• Must be able to move safely around the church building, stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs occasionally, travel locally, and work flexible hours Personal Characteristics
• Personal acceptance and belief in Jesus Christ alone as his Savior and Lord
• Pursues a Spirit-led life of faith, relationship, and dependence on Christ
• Must believe that God manifests Himself in three distinct and separate Persons, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) each of Whom is God and is to be honored and worshipped as God
• A devotion to prayer with a deep and growing relationship with Christ
• Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs of congregation
• Humble servant-leader with a shepherd's heart
• Committed to unity, encouragement, and spiritual vitality within the church
• Financially obedient in consistent tithing and giving to fulfill the great commission
• If married, has a supportive and ministry-involved wife and is the spiritual leader of his family
• Visibly intentional pursuit of moral and ethical purity according to Scripture
• Will be a male, meeting the requirements of the Board of Elders, and in compliance with the Employee Handbook. Primary Responsibilities
• The Pastor serves as a member of the Board of Elders. The Board of Elders is the final authority for all Scriptural matters and discipling of church members
• Deliver consistent, expository, and biblically sound sermons each Sunday and during mid-week Bible studies
• Serve as the primary spiritual shepherd of the congregation by relating positively to people of all ages and backgrounds, including the congregation, the staff, and the public
• Oversee the corporate worship of the church to ensure that it remains God-focused, scriptural, and edifying
• Communicate and lead plans of vision with the Elders, Church Board, ministry leaders and congregation in helping the church grow numerically and in spiritual depth so the church can fulfill its mission
• Foster a culture of discipleship, service, and spiritual growth
• Promote and encourage local and global missions, evangelism and discipleship
• Actively participate in the life and community of the church and build meaningful relationships within a small congregation
• Provide Biblical care, support, counseling and/or mentoring for individuals and couples as necessary with the assistance of the elders
• Anticipate problems and seek to solve them proactively. Display a positive attitude promoting conflict resolution quickly, humbly, and with unity in mind
• Performs other duties as outlined in the Employee Handbook or assigned by the Church Board Compensation and Benefits
• Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications that include a base salary, stipend towards medical insurance, employer retirement contribution and paid time off (vacation, holiday, bereavement and sick time)

Faith Alive Community Church is a Bible-believing congregation that is reaching out to our community. We desire to advance God's plan around the world, by communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ and building a foundation of knowledge and friendship through fellowship with others. Faith Alive Community Church began meeting in various members' homes, and experienced growth which led them to the town fire hall, and eventually the Fenner Mill building in Wind Gap. In 2013, the church purchased the historic Trinity Lutheran Church, where they currently meet. In 1988, the church called the Rev. Larry Gasteiger to be its pastor, a position he held for over twenty years, until his retirement in 2010. In 2011, the Rev. Matthew Whistler was called to be the pastor of our church, and remained until May 31, 2026.
