Position Overview:
The Children's Minister is responsible for developing, directing, and growing Faith Lutheran Church's ministry to children ages 3-12. Working 10 hours a week, this role is responsible for preparing and running Children's Churches during weekly worship services, managing the Children's Ministry volunteer team, and Special Family Programing. The goal of the Children's Minister is to create developmentally appropriate, theologically sound Christian education experiences that engage children, support families, and integrate youth fully into the life of the congregation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create curriculum for and lead ~30-minute Children's Churches for children ages 3-12 during weekly English services and monthly German-language services. Recruit, onboard, train, and schedule volunteers to ensure Children's Ministry programs are adequately staffed in accordance with church safety policies. Develop and lead a special event for children and their families every ~2 months (e.g., nativity play, movie night, picnic, etc.). Collaborate with the pastor and church leadership to ensure Children's Ministry aligns with the mission and theology of Faith Lutheran Church.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required Qualifications A confessing Christian Ability to pass a Massachusetts CORI background check At least one year of experience working with children ages 3-12 Legally eligible to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in religious studies, biblical studies, early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field Experience working with children ages 3-12 in a church or Christian educational setting Knowledge of and/or experience with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)
