Kids & Youth Director Gateway Community Church of Fortville Fortville, IN Job Details $22.50 - $25.00 an hour 5 hours ago Full Job Description Children's & Youth Director Gateway Community Church - Fortville, Indiana United Methodist Church Part-Time | 30 Hours per Week | Hybrid Remote $22.50-$25.00 per Hour Help Shape the Next Generation Gateway Community Church is seeking a passionate, relational, and organized leader to serve as our next Children's & Youth Director. This is more than a ministry position. It's an opportunity to invest in children, students, and families while helping build a thriving, welcoming community where faith, belonging, and personal growth can flourish. We are looking for someone who loves working with young people, enjoys building relationships with parents, and can create meaningful experiences that help children and teens discover their gifts, deepen their faith, and develop lasting connections. Located in the growing community of Fortville, Indiana, Gateway Community Church is a welcoming congregation with a strong commitment to families, community engagement, and spiritual growth. We also operate a weekday preschool that connects us with dozens of local families each year, creating unique opportunities for outreach and relationship-building. What You'll Do Lead Children's Ministry (Infant-5th Grade) Recruit, schedule, and encourage Sunday volunteers Plan engaging lessons and activities for children Create welcoming environments for new families Maintain a yearly ministry calendar Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed Build relationships with children and parents Develop family-focused events and faith-building opportunities Lead Youth Ministry (Grades 6-12) Plan and lead youth gatherings, service projects, camps, and special events Guide Confirmation programming Mentor students as they grow in faith and leadership Support youth participation in worship and service opportunities Develop outreach strategies that connect with new students Oversee The Landing Place, a ministry serving teens navigating addiction and recovery Partner with Parents We believe parents are the most influential spiritual leaders in their children's lives.
You'll:
Communicate regularly with families Provide encouragement and practical faith resources Organize occasional parent gatherings and workshops Support families through the various stages of childhood and adolescence Build Community Connections Develop relationships with Gateway Preschool families Participate in family events and community outreach efforts Help create pathways for new families to connect with the church Build partnerships with schools and community organizations Provide Ministry Leadership Recruit, train, and support volunteers Foster a positive culture of teamwork and appreciation Manage ministry schedules, budgets, and communication Contribute to church communications and social media Attend staff meetings and collaborate with church leadership What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Passionate about children, youth, and families Relational, approachable, and encouraging Organized and self-motivated Comfortable leading volunteers and building teams A strong communicator with both parents and students Able to balance planning, administration, and people-focused ministry Committed to Christian faith and church ministry Qualifications Experience working with children and/or youth in a church, nonprofit, educational, or similar setting Experience recruiting, organizing, or leading volunteers Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff and volunteers Successful completion of background check and Safe Sanctuaries training Active Christian faith Why Join Gateway?
