Position Summary The Discipleship Pastor is responsible for guiding people from first-time guest to fully engaged disciple through intentional systems and spiritual formation. This role oversees Assimilation, Discipleship, and Prayer Ministry , ensuring clear pathways for connection, growth, and spiritual care while equipping leaders and teams to serve effectively. General Requirements Must possess organizational skills, communication skills and conflict resolution skills. Must be an ordained minister of the Gospel Must possess and/or develop the ability to embrace flexibility. Be an encourager of people and demonstrate social awareness. Meet as needed with the Senior and Executive Pastors providing staff and organization updates. Continually strive to seek education and training opportunities. Must develop the habit of reading material appropriate to your ministry and seek leadership-training opportunities. Exercise tact, courtesy and diplomacy in dealing with guests and church members. Must possess ability to manage self, time and projects with minimal supervision. Staff Culture and Expectations The Gathering is a team-oriented church. All employees are expected to attend weekend worship services, small groups and special events related to church and your ministry. Individual ministries are part of a greater, unified body. Employees should refer to Personnel Policy Manual and Doctrinal Statement Form for questions regarding employment, vacations, sick leave and office procedures. Core Responsibilities 1. Assimilation The Discipleship Pastor creates a welcoming, organized, and intentional first-impressions experience that helps guests feel seen, valued, and connected.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee and manage the First Impressions Ministry , including: Parking Team Greeters Ushers Information Booth Team Recruit, train, schedule, and care for First Impressions volunteers Develop systems to collect, track, and follow up with first-time guests Ensure preparation and distribution of First-Time Guest Gift Bags Maintain a welcoming, visually appealing lobby and entrance environment for guests May include refreshments and seasonal or special-event décor Develop curriculum and lead the Connect Class Enter and manage first-time guest data in Planning Center Collaborate with staff to manage and improve the guest workflow from arrival to next steps 2.
Discipleship Responsibilities include:
Manage Baptism Ministry workflow and operations , including: Scheduling Preparation processes Recruiting and training baptism teams Oversee and implement GROW Discipleship Program , including: Building and leading the GROW team Creating communication and registration systems Coordinating classroom setup and logistics Recruiting and training teachers Facilitating two GROW sessions per calendar year Lead and oversee Small Groups /
Dinner Parties :
Offered two times per calendar year Select and develop topics based on church needs Recruit and support group leaders Develop and oversee
Spiritual Coaching Ministries :
Men's and Women's coaching teams Implement a clear coaching process and pathway Train and support coaches 3. Prayer Ministry The Discipleship Pastor ensures prayer is central to the life of the church through organized, accessible, and Spirit-led prayer opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
Plan and oversee prayer services and special prayer gatherings Recruit, train, and schedule prayer leaders Oversee altar ministry teams and prayer response during services Manage all forms of prayer requests: In-person Online Ongoing follow-up and care coordination Additional Responsibilities Assist with shooting and producing videos related to assimilation, discipleship, and prayer ministries Participate in on-stage announcements as needed Teach and preach when requested Collaborate with pastoral staff to support overall church vision and ministry goals Oversee the ministry budget, including planning, monitoring, and managing expenses in alignment with church goals and financial policies. The Gathering Church:
All employees are expected to attend weekend worship services, small groups and special events as asked and events related to your ministry. The Gathering is a team-oriented church. Employees should refer to the Personnel Policy Manual and the Doctrinal Statement Form for questions regarding employment, vacations, sick leave, office procedures, employment termination policies and doctrinal statements. Employee compensation will be determined by the following factors: position, staff-level (i.e., Executive level, Director level) and recommendations by the Senior Pastor, Executive Pastor and Leadership team, as well as performance reviews. Quarterly reviews and Yearly evaluations
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
