This role is responsible for cultivating environments where adults deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, grow in their understanding of Scripture, and develop the spiritual disciplines necessary to live out their faith in daily life. As a member of the pastoral leadership team, this position oversees the church's adult discipleship pathway, biblical education initiatives, and spiritual formation opportunities while supporting the Senior Pastor in strengthening the spiritual maturity and leadership development of the congregation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for adult discipleship and spiritual formation that supports members in growing in biblical knowledge, spiritual maturity, and Christ-centered living. Design and oversee structured discipleship pathways that guide adult members from spiritual exploration and new faith development toward spiritual maturity, leadership, and active ministry service, while regularly assessing the spiritual formation needs of the congregation and implementing relevant training, education, and growth opportunities to support their development. Establish measurable indicators of discipleship engagement, including participation in small groups and monitor participation and effectiveness of discipleship initiatives and recommend improvements that strengthen spiritual growth and congregational engagement. Provide leadership and oversight for adult Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and Christian education programs. Recruit teachers and develop a structured teacher training and development process to ensure doctrinal alignment, teaching excellence, and consistency across adult education environments. Coordinate teaching teams, facilitators, and volunteers connected to midweek Bible study. Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in planning and supporting midweek Bible study and other congregational teaching opportunities, including the development of teaching materials, study guides, and discipleship resources. Provide pastoral leadership, guidance, and coordination for adult ministries including Men's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Marriage Ministry, Senior/Seasoned Saints Ministry, and other discipleship-focused initiatives. Identify, mentor, and equip ministry leaders, teachers, and volunteers to effectively lead discipleship initiatives and support the spiritual growth of the congregation. Encourage the practice of spiritual disciplines such as prayer, scripture engagement, and personal devotion by developing and promoting devotional resources and church-wide spiritual growth initiatives Support the Senior Pastor in pastoral leadership responsibilities including teaching, ministry coordination, and congregational care as requested. Manage ministry planning, budgets, calendars, and resources related to adult discipleship initiatives. Other related duties as assigned. Work Environment This role operates in office, worship, and event venue settings and requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the church event calendar. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and a graduate-level degree in theological or biblical studies (MDiv, MA, or equivalent) and a minimum of three (3) years of successful ministry leadership experience, particularly in discipleship is required. Christian Education of Adult ministry leadership experience. A strong commitment to Jesus Christ and the Christian church. Theologically grounded and culturally informed with a commitment to biblical teaching and spiritual formation. Demonstrated passion for discipleship, Christian education, and pastoral ministry. Expected to become a member of Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Evening and weekend availability required to fulfill ministry responsibilities.
