FULL CHURCH PROFILE
here: frootgroup.com/lavondrivestudents Lavon Drive Baptist Church is a well-established, multigenerational church located in Garland, TX, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The church is led by Senior Pastor Robby Greene, who became lead pastor in 2014 and has served on staff in various capacities since 1997. Lavon Drive currently offers two services on Sunday mornings at 9:00a and 11:00a and sees approximately 1,000 in total weekly attendance across their English, Spanish, and Burmese congregations, proudly operating as one church in three languages. The church also operates Garland Christian Academy (GCA) and a daycare on campus. Lavon Drive is a church with deep roots and a forward-looking heart. Situated in one of the most culturally diverse communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the church has a genuine passion for reaching people from every background and equipping them to make disciples. The student ministry reflects that same diversity, running around 110 students with an active bus ministry as well. With a strong foundation, a gifted and driven leadership team, and a student population ready to be developed and led, this is a compelling opportunity for the right leader to step in and build something meaningful. The church is seeking the right candidate to come on staff as the new Student Pastor to lead and grow their student ministry serving grades 7 through 12. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church's overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Volunteer Development:
Lead and direct the student ministry program for grades 7 through 12, creating a vibrant and spiritually enriching environment for students to grow in their faith. Build strong relationships with all students, actively pursuing newcomers and fostering a culture where every student feels valued and connected. Recruit, develop, and invest in a growing team of volunteer leaders, equipping them to lead small groups, disciple students, and carry meaningful ownership of the ministry. Create and implement a volunteer onboarding and training process, including clear job descriptions, regular development touchpoints, and a culture of appreciation.
Spiritual Guidance and Discipleship:
Model godly living and exhibit a lifestyle that reflects the teachings of Jesus, serving as a consistent example for students and volunteers alike. Lead the small group discipleship culture within the student ministry, ensuring every student has access to a leader investing in their spiritual growth. Adhere to and champion the theological commitments of Lavon Drive Baptist Church, including alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Fulfill the biblical qualifications of leadership as outlined in Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3.
Program Management and Outreach:
Plan, organize, and oversee all student ministry programming, including the weekly Wednesday night gathering, the Sunday morning bus ministry class, summer camp, and outreach events. Develop and execute a proactive outreach strategy that creates regular on-ramps for unchurched students, with particular attention to the multicultural makeup of the surrounding Garland community. Build meaningful connections with local public schools and create intentional pipelines for students from those schools to engage with the ministry. Oversee and manage the student ministry budget, ensuring resources are used strategically toward the vision of the ministry.
Communication and Parent Engagement:
Establish a consistent communication rhythm with parents and caregivers that keeps them informed, engaged, and bought into the vision of the student ministry. Engage with parents regularly and cast the vision of the ministry in a way that earns their trust and partnership. Collaborate with the broader church staff to ensure the student ministry aligns with the overall mission and vision of Lavon Drive Baptist Church.
QUALIFICATIONS
A deep, personal commitment to Christ and an unwavering passion for student ministry. Highly driven, self-motivated, and able to lead and execute without micromanagement. A strong relational capacity with the ability to connect authentically across cultural, generational, and socioeconomic diversity. Proven ability to develop volunteers, build systems, and lead a team toward measurable growth. A strong communicator with students, parents, volunteers, and staff. Creative and forward-thinking, with the ability to generate ideas and bring them to execution. Demonstrates wise personal and professional boundaries while maintaining a high work ethic.
Education:
A bachelor's degree is preferred, though not required.
Experience:
At least three years of meaningful student ministry experience is strongly preferred, with evidence of tangible growth in both student numbers and volunteer development.
