Job Description

The Youth Ministry Director is responsible for cultivating a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry for middle and high school students (rising 6th-12th grade) and their families. This role focuses on building meaningful relationships with students, equipping them for lifelong faith in Christ, and integrating them fully into the worship, discipleship, and mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC). The Youth Ministry Director serves as a spiritual leader, mentor, and advocate for students; equips and supports adult volunteer leaders; and partners with parents in the spiritual formation of their teenagers. This position collaborates closely with church staff and lay leadership to ensure that youth ministry is aligned with WPC s mission, values, and discipleship strategy. The Student Ministry Director reports to the Senior Pastor in collaboration with the Discipleship Elders.
Essential Duties:
Relationship Build consistent, relational presence with middle and high school students through regular programming, events, and personal engagement. Disciple students through teaching, mentoring, prayer, and participation in the life of the church. Partner with parents and guardians to support the spiritual growth of students and communicate regularly regarding ministry opportunities and student needs. Attend student extracurricular activities (approximately one per week, as schedule permits) to support relational ministry. Volunteer Leadership Development Recruit, train, equip, and support adult volunteer leaders who serve in student ministry. Lead and mentor adult volunteers in hosting and facilitating student discipleship groups. Foster a healthy, spiritually grounded volunteer team culture marked by prayer, preparation, and shared leadership. Program and Event Leadership Plan, lead, and oversee weekly student ministry programming, including Sunday morning spiritual formation, mid-week gatherings, small groups, fellowship activities, retreats, camps, mission experiences, and outreach events. Develop and deliver age-appropriate curriculum and teaching that reflects WPC s commitments to worship, connection, and service. Coordinate and provide leadership to WPC s annual Confirmation class. Facilitate an annual Student Sunday in which students actively participate in worship leadership. Church Integration Encourage and support student participation in the broader life of WPC, including worship, service, and intergenerational ministry. Collaborate with church staff and committees to integrate student ministry into congregational life. Assist in worship planning and leadership as appropriate. Care (Student-Focused) Provide spiritual care, prayer, and support primarily to students and their families. Offer pastoral presence to student ministry volunteers during times of need, in coordination with the officers of the church (Elders, Deacons). Refer broader pastoral care needs to the Senior Pastor or appropriate staff and/or officers as needed.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and oversee the Student Ministry budget in coordination with the Senior Pastor, Session and Director of Church Operations. Track and manage registration, payments, and permissions for student events, retreats, and trips. Track and Maintain weekly attendance for youth ministry programs and events. Maintain current liability waivers and required documentation for all students, volunteers, and guests. Participate in required staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Senior Pastor, and relevant committee meetings. Ensure compliance with all WPC youth protection policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Maintain regular continuing education related to student ministry and adolescent faith development. Become a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Participate in WPC all-church outreach initiatives. Maintain flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, averaging 40-50 hours per week depending on ministry demands.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree (preferably in ministry, education, or a related field). Minimum of two years of experience in church-based student ministry leadership. A clear Christian faith and demonstrated spiritual and emotional maturity. A genuine calling to adolescent discipleship and relational ministry. Ability to recruit, equip, and lead adult volunteer teams. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Capacity to manage multiple responsibilities with organization and attention to detail. Collaborative team player with initiative, energy, and professionalism Strong work ethic and ability to keep pace with demands of ministry Competence with basic technology and digital communication tools. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise pastoral discretion. Successful completion of background checks and required youth protection training.

$45,500.00 per year
